Great photos, Robert! I'm assuming the ones showing Chargers celebrating is from their AFL championship?

Jeff, if I recall correctly those photos followed their victory over Denver on 12/22/63 which clinched their place in the championship game.

Robert I may be called for a delay of game here since it may have already been mentioned. Todd Tobias on the board AFLfan has published two of the best books I have seen both on the Chargers.

Mine are boxed right now but I believe the titles are CHARGING THROUGH the AFL and BOMBS AWAY on the Coryell era. Guys please correct me on the titles or Todd.

You are correct on the titles as far as I know.

A nothing card, but a big deal to me because it completes my subset of the 75th Anniversary team (mostly but not completely RCs). I found it by accident as it's mislabeled, it's really an 88.

That Woodson is so freaking cool! I was a big fan of his back in the day. Great looking card and an oddball pre-RC. Love it!

Thanks. I also included these in my subset as I liked them better than the rookie cards.

Great card, love the oddballs, especially the police sets. Value is in the eye of the beholder, some of my favorite cards have little actual value.

Fun day at the mailbox with the arrival of 31 additions to my 1965 Philadelphia set! Many of these were commons, but I did get the Hornung and a really colorful checklist. I also included a couple of scans of Giants players. I am finding the Giants cards to be really eye-catching. I realize this isn't considered a "major" set, but I am as happy with this project as anything I have collected in quite a while. Considering that I have been really unfocused over the course of my collecting life, it is rewarding to get on a project and stick with it. This will be fun to finish.

Love the '65 Philly, I love the photography on many of those. Good luck with the set as you move forward.

Purchases from the recent Sterling Sports Auctions, so I am off on another set
These cards were listed in groups of two, and I paid $45 for each lot (plus buyers premium and shipping).
Not sure how great of a deal I got, but I really like them, and they appear to be in line with my habit of trying to pay 10% of NM "book" or less.

National Chicle football is a great set and those are beautiful cards for that price. Good luck pursuing the set. Wish I had some duplicates to send up the road to Hilliard.

I remember so many of these floating around my elementary school. I grew an hour south of Pittsburgh. Have always disliked the Steelers but obviously most of my classmates were fans.

Thanks for sharing, it brought back memories of a much simpler time in life!

You and me both, Kin! I grew up in Western PA and for whatever reason as a kid I didn't like the Steelers either. Took a lot of grief for that from friends so maybe that's the reason I despise them so much now LOL.

I was headed out of the card show yesterday and spotted a 1955 Bowman card on top of a $1 box. Dug through it all and found a few more. Finally decided to "start" the set instead of just "acquiring."

It's early in the process, but I have 43/160 cards (26.9%). I love that if I'm not worried about condition, I can pick up most of the cards in the set for $1 or less.

Great pickups!

Todd: love those signed '65 cards. The inscriptions from those to show so much mutual respect.

Larry: another set, huh. Good luck with Salada. Those are cool.

Jason: you can't go wrong with a well centered '65 tall boy ... particularly of a star!

I wanted a Lombardi card but unless you count that Philadelphia thing where he's pictured in a tiny insert he doesn't have one, so bought this instead.

Today I took a road trip to "The Villages" retirement community where their collectors club hosts a card show three or four time a year. It may be the last time I visit since it seems that all the cards are the same as I saw last time lol but I needed to get out of the house anyway I picked up three hits 1961 Nu Card Scoops set, and ex Miami Dolphin Larry Seiple (who lives there) was signing for free. So I pulled all Larrys cards from my sets, and he signed them all (plus a couple not pictured) including his 1970 RC.
stopped for a cheeseburger fries and a milk shake on the way home too, all in all not a bad day!

A few recent pick-ups. Just ran across the Starr at the LCS and had to have it, I love the Philly issues. The Namath was a mistake, purchased it thinking I still needed it for my '72 set but am down to four and Namath isn't one of them. So, have a nice Namath, but nothing I would have purchased for my PC so would much rather have put those funds towards something else. The Kellogg's are just the latest in the loooooooooong road to complete this set with no cracking. Only about half way so far, and I try to catch deals or trades rather than just spend a ton to have it.

Picked up a few new additions today. I've been after the 72 Namath for a while, and finally came across a nice one. And the 85 Montana might just be my favorite card of his.

You've got to love the doodle on the back of the Namath. Classic.

Posted this on the memorabilia side, but thought I would drop it here too. Picked up a 1903 and 1904 Army - Navy Trophy ball and an unused ticket to the 1904 game. Pretty excited to add them.
