Default Does it really exist? Prove it!

The older I get, the more I start to wonder if certain cards REALLY exist. It's one thing to not find one or own one, but to never actually see a picture of one...now that's another story!

This thread is designed to provide hope. Post a request of what you'd like to see a picture of and maybe someone will find it for you.

Good luck!

1968 Atlantic Oil Contest Card of Claude Osteen or Ron Fairly

1976 Hostess Ron Cey (reversed negative variation)

Now had this thread popped up yesterday I'd have asked about the 1962 Sherriff Billy Pierce coin I've had on my wantlist for years and years and never seen.

But last night in another thread I was tipped that it was never issued. It's appeared on checklists at Trading Card Database and numerous other places but doing more digging last night I saw that those listings are incorrect. So a Net54 member has saved me more futile searching.

Here is a link to the Osteen. I believe a member of this board owns one.

Anyone ever heard of a 1955 Topps stamps HOFer? I have seen posts about a Hank Aaron, but I haven't seen any proof for that. One day I'd like to try and put together a definitive checklist/gallery of the set.

Have seen a scan of an Aaron. It was pretty beat up and the asking price was pretty high. I have one of the Stamps, unfortunately it is Mossi, ears and nose all over. There is a partial checklist in the SCD Standard Catalog. You might send a pm to Larry (sflayank) . I think he has some.

There is a earlier thread in here on this....somewhere

I would love to confirm that a 1957 Jay Publishing of Billy Hoeft really exists, it is on my list. Have seen one on Dr. Google "purporting" to be Jay Publishing, it might be, but I have never seen one on Ebay or COMC. Don't even have any idea if it came in a photo pack, mail order, or what.

1978 Wiffle Ball bat/ball holder with Hrabosky and Bonds

I have been attempting to complete this set since it cam out and have never, ever even seen a picture of this one. I have been able to confirm all the rest of the 86 cards of the 88 listed. I can't even confirm 100% that these are the two players on it or that they are on a bat/ball holder.

23 known, 24 if you count Aaron:

"CORKY" VALENTINE REDLEGS
"RUBE" WALKER DODGERS
ALEX GRAMMAS CARDINALS
BILL SKOWRON YANKEES
BILL TREMEL CUBS
BOB SKINNER PIRATES
BOBBY HOFMAN GIANTS
CHARLIE WHITE BRAVES
CHUCK DIERING ORIOLES
DAVE JOLLY BRAVES
DON MOSSI INDIANS
HARVEY HADDIX CARDINALS
HOWIE POLLET CUBS
JACK SHEPARD PIRATES
JIM DAVIS CUBS
JIM PENDELTON BRAVES
JOE CUNNINGHAM CARDINALS
KARL SPOONER DODGERS
RAY BOONE TIGERS
RAY JABLONSKI REDLEGS
RUBEN GOMEZ GIANTS
STAN HACK CUBS
TED KAZANSKI PHILLIES

I believe at least 40 are possible based upon the section of the card sheet they are taken from. At least one stamp from each row and column is known so I think it highly likely all 40 were produced (U means unconfirmed) and possibly 50 if column 1 from the uncut sheet was also included. There is no correlation with the Sports Illustrated inserts either, which are much more random. The 4 stamp block is reproduced as well, it's intact on the schematic, so I think my theory is plausible.

ArmourPhil showed an uncut sheet of these a couple of years ago, this is the best I could make a scan of it. That proved that the Hrabosky/Bonds sleeve existed. He also proved that they were a 1979 issue, not 1978 as previously thought. I agree that there hasn't been sight of one available, just like the one with the pink Buckner/Eckersley discs from the sheet, which I have never seen available. ETA: there were even two different Hrabosky/Bonds sleeves on the sheet, one with dark colors and one with light colors.

I personally do not believe that the 2002 Topps Pujols correct back exists. I believe the SCD got it wrong. If I remember correctly, the Chrome, Chrome Refractors, and Opening Day have the correct back.

How about the 1967 Topps Punchouts Bob Gibson? I have been under the impression for years that this card does NOT exist, even though it is listed in the SCD.

Edited to say that I found a thread that I started back in 2010 asking this question... Consensus says that it doesn't exist.

Here are my two winners... (I wonder how many are actually out there, no more than a handful I'd guess)...

Here is another winner but of a different Oil Companies contest, I can't recall ever seeing another panel with both halves of the Ruth...

That Ruth is bizarre. Unless it remained unopened until more recently, I can't imagine someone not immediately cashing that in for the prize. That's beyond cool.

Holy smokes! I've been looking for this ever since the first time I saw it listed in the Standard Catalog. I know it's a proof but why is the photo reversed? Do you know how many exist? I haven't been this excited about Hostess cards since I was collecting them as a kid in the late 1970's while eating Twinkies.

The 1979 Hostess unissued Alan Trammell card is a reversed photo, which is pretty cool. ETA: two minutes late as usual.

For me there are two Mays items that I've never seen. They also happen to be two of two of the remaining five that I need to complete the master set:

1968 AMERICAN OIL WILLIE MAYS LEFT SIDE-$10

Because it isn't graded (or in a slab at all). I like the look of the PSA slabs for display purposes, so I scan a lot of cards and insert the front/back scans in a faux PSA slab. Pretty, isn't it?

If someone can show proof that the 1972 Topps Venezuelan #87 Jose Cardenal Cachorros (Cubs) sticker/card exists, I would be most grateful.

Thanks John.
I've contacted Rick already. No response for my request to see a picture.
And yeah, I'm aware of the pop report for the American Oil. I've never seen one, and have reached out to those on the registry that are supposed to have them and also received no response on that one too.
So am hoping someone here might have an ungraded sample, or at least a picture of one.

I have always wondered if the 2002 Topps Pujols exists. I have hope that it does because I know that it exists in Topps Japanese issue Kanebo because I have one.

I am certain that the Japanese version was produced long after the base set was produced. The same goes for Chrome, Refractors, Opening Day, etc. If the regular card was ever corrected, surely at least ONE would surface.

We ran an article in Beckett while I was there back in the day and Clay at Topps confirmed those cards existed and we even had an image back then. The 2002 Topps Pujols with a Pujols back exists. May be hard to find, really hard to find, but they do exist.

Thanks for posting the pic and proving that it does exist, I appreciate it. Now I know to keep it on my wantlist. If you ever decide to sell it just let me know.

Default Okay - lots showing up so, why not!

I have never seen a 1960 Bazooka complete box with Roberto Clemente. To make it a tad "easier" I have also never seen a 1960 Bazooka box with Mickey Mantle or one with Willie Mays

How about 1960 Spic and Span Crandall reversed direction? I haven’t found anyone who has one, and never have seen one for sale.
