IF the story is true, what a burn! More likely a trimmed card that BVG didnt catch. They shouldnt have pressed their luck.

"The card was not altered in any way" - Cardboard Picasso

Might want to rethink that username if you aren't altering cards...

I believe that PSA would have put TRIMMED on the label if it were trimmed. It was altered in some other way.

The seller is also mis-representing the value of the card in the BVG holder. The SMR value he mentioned if for a PSA 8.5. VCP lists a BVG 8.5 at a little under $1300. This exact card sold for $1649 in November 2016.

I don't believe it's the same card. Print defect below the "A" in "NATI" and a faint print line to right of "Frank". Also interesting you cannot blow up the Altered one.
not buying the story.

It doesn't surprise me at all that BVG slabbed a card and PSA rejected it. I think the price is off the charts for an AUTH and he won't get anything close to it.

Why in the world would you crack out an 8.5 and take the chance of.... I don't know - the card getting damaged during crack out, your daughters kid putting in some bike spokes, the card only comes back as authentic from PSA... you know the usual stuff.. wow

Same card indeed. The defect you pointed out most likey doesn't show because the PSA picture looks like it was from a camera and the BVG was scanned; showing the flaws in clearer detail. The other indicators are identical. As far as I can tell.

Because he didn't take that chance and his story is BS. That's my guess anyway.

I have always held that grading is a rigged game. I had a friend who sent in cards he had gotten from the pack in the 1960s (he was one of those kids who kept his cards neat and pristine, I don't understand that) and he got back a couple with "evidence of trimming." The rest of the grades were disappointing and considerably under what similar quality cards that had been sent in by a big guy would grade IMO. After his experience he said something I thought made a lot of sense...I'll never again send in a card I intend to keep for my collect. It just makes me feel worse about something I love.
