I think wikipedia is an okay start for research, but obviously has to be double checked with other sources.
A problem I have with wikipedia is that their 'concept' articles (cognitive psychology, quantum mechanics, Hinduism philosophy, whatever) are not well written and can make the subject more complicated and convoluted than necessary. The articles should be introductory, but they sometimes needlessly throw in everything but the kitchen sink. There are someties far better, and more concise, articles on the web.
