I was talking about just this at work with some younger ladies and gentlemen today. They were going on and on about how great some of the artists of the last 10 years or so are so much more talented then anything from the past and how they had lived for their music and had such great passion. So I turned then onto a video of Joe Cocker - You are so beautiful and A little help from my friends. They had to admit that they know the songs and even most of the words but never heard do that old crazy guy that made those faces and obviously had a Hugh pharmaceutical problem with a whiskey chaser. At least the old guy had there attention for a few minutes and that just maybe I had some interesting thing to bring to a conversation.

Frustrating to meet young people who have no knowledge of prior music. . . . however I find it equally frustrating (and nonsensical) when people in their 50s and 60s say "whatever happened to good music! There's no good music today!" Sure there is. There is so much good music today if you are looking for it. Just not going to hear it on your favorite classic rock station.

Whether or not you are a fan of Prince (I'm not particularly one), the Prince performance is one of the best ever.

I would show them something like Santana at Woodstock playing Soul Sacrifice. Michael Shrieve, at twenty years old playing a killer drum solo. Greg Rolie (Journey) on keys and Mike Carabello on congos.

Great topic!! One of my favorite live performances is Chicago playing 25 or 6 to 4 in Tanglewood (Ma).

http://https://youtu.be/7uAUoz7jimg

Another one is Jimi Hendrix doing Voodoo Child in Maui in front of about 200 people. Check out the chick @ 4:00 into the video. She wasn't on the same planet as everyone else who was there.

Default It's all dependent on the dice you throw...

I think this is so cool; this much sound coming from just 3 guys. and the extras, like the keyboard player clicking his fingers on the 4th beat.

So funny, "Dirty Mind" came on last night as I was driving with my 4 year old son. I am not sure I introduced him to Prince yet, but he was into it. Tonight, as we were watching the planes land at JFK, I was prowling YouTube's Prince stuff and "Head" came on. I thought he's young enough to not know what they are singing about. I'm sure he still doesn't, but imagine my surprise as he was singing "Head" half way through the song...

Being the youngest from a very large family, I grew up on Classic Rock.

Love this performance by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynn, Steve Winwood and Prince

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y

Hammer to Fall by Queen. It kills me inside that I will never be able to see Freddie!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMwflGY_bbc

Ophelia by the Band is another great one.

The George Harrison Tribute w/Prince, and the George Michael/Queen video have been a couple of my favorites for awhile now. Just great great performances no matter what type of music you like.
I'm usually not much on remakes, but the following by Green Day really breathes new life in to this John Lennon classic.

That is very true and at the same time, it is a shame some of this newer music, because it doesn't fit in with todays favorites or genre, isn't played.

I recently discovered this band, which won a Juno for rock album of the year, but wasn't televised because of what I said above, (go figure) but they are scary good, imo, and I simply can't get enough of them lately.

The Glorious Son's. The singer, who is also the song writer, is the brother of the short haired lead guitarist and they have been putting out good music since 2011. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Glorious_Sons

If you have an hour check out this unplugged concert. I'm pretty sure most will be glad they did.
