Nice pickup Bob. Somehow I knew that was you. I think I was the 2nd under bidder. Nice card.

Thanks to Larry H for two of these. All obtained within days of each other. Sometimes the pickins are too good to resist.

Default 1889 Williams College Team

A nice cabinet of a 19th century team from my alma mater.

Contrary to what some people have said, I did not play on this squad!

Thanks, Rhys!

Dammit, Doc! I wanted that Plank! I took home the Matty, Chance and Baker.

Let me know if we can work out some kind of trade.

Gotta love it when you can pick up an OJ with a clear photo!
OJ.jpg

Also gotta love when you can pick up a NM Babe

But since a NM Babe is not in my budget, I'll settle for this beater.

Richard (rman444),

I guess we cost each other some money, as I don't think anybody else was bidding seriously on these. I wondered who was outbidding me. As for the Plank, I think I'm hanging onto it for a little....sorry. I just had them framed last weekend. If I change my mind, I'll let you know first.

Thanks Michael the blue Cicotte has been a card I have searched almost 10 years for on line and at shows. Now that I am getting closer to completing the E94 master set the color variations I need are few and far between so I had to grab this card.

Those are great pick-ups! Two of the more underrated HOF RC's as they are very tough to find.

I was very excited to get this back from SGC today.

They will only be given authentic grades, but I was just happy to get this into a great looking slab.

I'm a couple of days late in posting this Jan. pickup from the B/S/T forum (thanks Iggyman!)...

Also, this card was a raw eBay purchase last month - but since it returned from grading yesterday, I'll call it a Feb. pickup anyway...

I was inspired for this little project by the "thekingofclout" or Jimmy who mostly posts on the Memorablia side and by the way has started many excellent threads on that side. Anyway, Jimmy has posted in the past an original Type I photo of Tris Speaker that is the same photo used for his E-145 (Cracker Jack) cards.

I always wanted to do something like that and always loved this pose of Mike Menosky so I picked up what I think is a Type I photo (I am a card guy but starting to get more into photos) to go with a few cards based off that image. Now to put it all together in a nice display

Default Scary here too...

Erick and all...
Eddie Collins...he played ball for a quarter century so he is in a lot of sets...he seems to always look different too...but this W517 closeup isn't his most flattering!

This card and the sweet DiMaggio I shared above are my February pickups!
