You can pick them without loving them....what if you hated both teams, you still have to choose one.

Jeff- are you not even going to make a Superbowl pick? You can always pass the T-shirt down to the next guy even if you finish on top. You're in first place, it's your tournament to win or lose.

Pretty sure Jeff took the Giants. I took the the Patriots the very next pick. We were a little anxious, posted our picks before the totals were up.

I'm gonna rock that T. May get a shirt three sizes too small to accentuate my white trashness.

Best of luck to Jeff and thanks again to Barry for the good news every weekend.

I can't win, but I don't want to finish last either. I'll take the Pats.

Thank you, Barry for the contest and the time you've put in on this.

Hi Barry,

I was quick on the trigger and picked first (see post 140). Thanks again.

Thanks Jeff....missed it completely. I believe that now only you and Ty are eligible for the T-shirt. The rest of us are trying to finish as well as possible. Good luck to you both.

I do hate both teams, but hate the pats more.

my pick = patriots. Lets hope I'm wrong! hee hee

should be a good game. I thought the Ravens/Pats game was great.

The only team I really have a strong dislike for is the Eagles, but the Giants lately have been using Dallas as a doormat on their Superbowl runs. Eli's great - I wish him well.

This should be a great Superbowl.

My pick is the opposite of the leader, even though I think the Giants will win. I still can't win the pool since 2nd place had no choice either if he wants to win.

Patriots

Sometimes in the last round you have to pick the opposite team of the guy ahead of you to have any chance.

No hatred for any team, just much love for my childhood team and always will. From BU to the Fens to BC (even Tampa) to Harvard to Schaefer to Sullivan to Foxboro to CMGI/ Gilette and everywhere in between. Go Pats. Yes, they are my pick.

Oh, and there is a little dislike for the NYJ mostly due to the current admin but they are pretty insignifigant at the moment

Just wanted to bump this to the top, and say that only half of our flock have put in their picks for the Superbowl. It's still five days away, but with the extra week somebody is going to forget to make his pick.

I know it cannot compare to Spygate and Belichickgate and all the other Patriot gates but,,,, the NYJ were the first AFL team to win the SB.

Well Barry, I might as well go with my heart. The Cowboys have just as good of a chance as winning as I do. Good luck with those Jets. They need Joe "Willie" back.

Is it time to send Mark Sanchez to greener pastures? I don't think he's the answer.

Is there no Total Points for a tie-breaker? Keeps everybody w/in 5 pts of the leader in the game!

Anyhow, I'm going w/ the Patriots & a 2-point win, 34-32 and a Total 66 points in my attempt to avoid last place!

Thanks Fred. We still have 13 players who haven't made their picks yet. Hope everybody is still in.

Edited to add there cannot be a tie for first place. Either Jeff or Ty will win outright.

If memory serves, Jeff was declining the T-shirt since he has one. I'll speak with Leon today and we'll figure this out. Jeff finished with an amazing 22 out of 23 points, missing only one wild card game and then running the table. How did he do it? I think he got the answers ahead of time, but I can't prove it. Thanks to everyone for playing:

Remarkable job picking the winners!

Great game last night. Eli Manning, 2-time Super Bowl MVP? Who woulda thunk it?

Hey Jeff,
Congratulations. I didn't follow everything but it sounds like you did a remarkable job of guessing. On this particular game I want to make it where the winner (you) at least gets something, understanding another T-shirt isn't what you want. If you have a paypal address I will gift you $25 for the win...or you can email me your address at leonl@flash.net and I will put a $25 check in the mail for you. It's not much but it's something. It could buy a decent lunch for you......thanks to Barry for doing this and thanks to all who played....best regards

Jeff- This just in (below)!!! A very kind Net54baseball member (Phil) sent me this note- I hope you will take Phil up on his offer to make this more fun and in the future we will probably offer this as a 3rd option. (cash, T-shirt or Trophy)
regards
leon

I was reading the postings about Jeff who won the football pool and did not want a t shirt or your offer of $25.
Well, I own a trophy shop and thoroughly enjoy Net54. I am willing to donate a small football trophy for this competition. I can send it directly to Jeff if he wants one. Let me know your thoughts. It would be a nice small gold cup w/ a football runner on top with some engraving.I don't want anything in return, just thought it would be a good idea.
Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Phil Ellis
