Default T206 HOFer

One of my favorites: the only T206 depiction of HOFer Ed Walsh. Finally added it to my collection today. My thanks go to Darrin on the B/S/T.

I picked this up at a local card show today:

It was the first time that I saw a blanket in person and couldn't resist purchasing it for my collection.

Nice grabs, Calvin. How did that Chase just grade a 2? It looks more like a 5!

Cheapies...but if you put them in a nice holder...they do have some eye appeal. Still have a couple of 1941 Wheaties holder left...anyone got a couple to spare?

Default New From SGC!

These certainly aren't New to me, but I sent a bunch of E98s that were raw or PSA to be graded by SGC to match the others in my collection. I was particulary pleased that my Collins Old Put Back received a 30 ;and my Dooin was Authenticated as an Old Put Back even in Dog Chew Toy Condition

Here are 5 of the 15 that I sent in:

Default W514 1919-1921 Ping Bodie

A very nice W514 Ping Bodie strip card arrived today. Thanks to Brad Green.......a good guy.

P.S. Does anyone know what is the actual year for the Ping Bodie W514? (1919, 1920, or 1921).

Here are two postcards I got in the mail today. I believe both are ca. 1912. The first one shows a shortstop wearing an Athletics jersey, and I believe it depicts Jack Barry, a member of Connie Mack's "$100,000 infield." The handwriting on the back reads, "I see you got a triple yesterday, keep up the good work." The second postcard shows Jim Thorpe, "The Greatest Athlete of All Times." The writing on the back says, "Sara Dean Lee, Mattie Ziegler, Bill Durfee?, Mr. Hunt?, and myself were there. Baseball game between Chambersburg and Carlisle, 14 innings, 2-1 in favor of Carlisle."

That Thorpe is great. It looks like you got it for a pretty nice price as well. A psa 5 sold for $900 a while back.

Thanks Cat. I think you're probably right about the names. I can't really read the writing so I just gave it my best guess.

Thanks! I saw that one, and also this one:
http://www.auctionscc.com/archive/20...morabilia/281/

I think mine is in the best condition of the three except for the writing, which doesn't really bother me. I think it's cool how it has an Olympic picture on the front, a Pop Warner (his football coach) reference on the back, and period writing about a Carlisle baseball game. It's appropriate for a Thorpe piece since he excelled at all three (and apparently basketball too).

Dang, this C46 Imperial Tobacco Gandil was a hard card to find in any condition! Curse you Black Sox collectors!
Thanks Dan.
Thanks also to Richard for helping me get closer to completing this set. O'Hara is particularly difficult as the #1 card in the set.

Took a chance with a $5 Buy It Now on this listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Aside from the scan, the card looked good to me....

A package arrived today, and I was very happy to find what was inside:

Snatched the 1906 Chicago Cubs team postcard from eBays Johnny Hustle for ~$110. I was determine to pay about $100 for one, and with alot of patience plus willpower, I persevered. Will reside next to a "Sporting News Archive" companion piece. It worked-out nicely.

Lovely Day...

Default 1929 Four-on-One Exhibit Autographed by Foxx, Grove and Cochrane....

Picked this one up this week... Arrived today... Discussions as to the authenticity of the autographs can be found on the Memorabilia Forum... Jodi Birkholm gave his quick opinion that the autographs are "Likely Genuine"....
