Default What's the centerpiece of your collection?

My main focus as a boxing collector is on the lineal heavyweight champions from 1882-1978, and I primarily concentrate on vintage display items like on-site posters, programs and pennants that I get custom framed. This recent acquisition — one I'd been hunting for 30 years — has become the centerpiece for my more than 40 framed pieces. It's the ultra rare on-site pennant for Muhammad Ali's title defence against George Chuvalo at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens on March 29, 1966. Along with the pennant, the frame includes two autographed wirephotos from the fight, a small promo photo of Chuvalo, a $100 ringside ticket stub and the official program (removable via a small 'back door'). I'd love to see what other 'centerpieces' are out there ...

Default Great Question

I think it's a difficult call for most of us.
Mine would come down to 2 items.
From a traditional collectible standpoint it would be this...

Custom framed item dated 1982 by the craftsman. My father bought it for me that year for around $150.

Of everything it would be this...

Nuff said!

Mark

BTW, that Ali item is fantastic.

My centerpiece is my oversized circa 1910 Cubs pennant. May be the only one.

Mine would be this 1924 Senators pennant. It is plain looking but I don't know if I've ever seen another one from what was their only WS championship.

There actually is a Pirates pennant from '25 that looks similar, with a batter graphic inside the baseball ...

Default That's a great topic Murr!

From my Memorabilia Collection it would have to be this 1941 Telegram from Lou Gehrig. I just never get tired of reading his inspirational words. This piece was just six months prior to his death and here he was still staying positive.

And regarding Autographs, I'm sticking with Gehrig...

I'll have to give some thought to which would be the centerpieces of my photograph collection...

That is my favorite pennant by far Mike (of course I'm a closet Cub fan as I was born there )

C'mon Mike, let's see your best Figural centerpiece as well!

Shouldn't the jersey have a year and set tagging in the collar, not just Munson???
