Thanks for the replies, everyone. It's good to hear that a smaller budget can still work. I recently got back into modern collecting too, and I think in both sections of the hobby, costs can seem a bit daunting at first.

Looking forward to posting more as I make some pickups!

I'd actually suggest not starting with T206s - there are dozens of issues out there that can be had by a budget collector, that have a much lower population and still haven't been fully researched. While it's true minor discoveries are still being made in the T206 world, like what players may have been next to each other on a sheet, there are many other issues where full checklists aren't even well established. Start with an M101-4/5, an E121, a T210, an E101, a V100 or even a T205 to name a few. Look around on Old Cardboad and find something that looks interesting and swim in the blue ocean
If you eventually decide you want to join the rat race and chase T206s, you always can, but if you start with the monster, you may die there

Welcome to the board! As a fellow blow budget collector I wish you luck in your pursuits. There are lots of good value to be found. Look at the Old Cardboard website and the BST section you will be introduced to a wide array of options and you can find one you will enjoy that won't require spending large amounts.
