Default Help with 1940's (?) Oakland Oaks PCL issue

Posted By: Cobby33

Hi All-

I just discovered a group of B&W cards of Oakland Oaks players. They appear to be from the 1940's and have 2 different backs: Remar Baking Co. and Smiths (a clothing store). Sorry, no scans.

I don't have my SCD catalog handy (assuming they're even in there). Does anyone know what these are and whether they're at all unique?

Thanks in advance!

Edited to add: I just checked eBay (duh) and there are a similar bunch on there for about $10/ea.

Hi... sorry to say that these are very easy to find... and they are in the late 1940's depending on what year you have...

I love the 49 set. It has Charlie Dressen, George Kelly (the HOFer), Billy Martin, Jackie Jensen and three important Negro League players--Artie Wilson, Alonso Perry and Parnell Woods. It also happens to be Parnell Woods' only known card. For an inexpensive set, it's good stuff.

They are in the back of the SCD in the minor league section. Here's more info. from the Old Cardboard site: http://www.oldcardboard.com/o/clothing/47smiths/47smiths.asp?cardsetID=1103
