1906 Columbus Senators- American Association Postcard

I recently picked this up and it looks to have quite a few future and/or past major leaguers on it. IS this correct info?

Quinn and Clymer’s 1905 club was an experienced outfit, with most of the starting nine being veterans of the major leagues. The two best hitters patrolled the outfield, Ollie Pickering (.326) and Bunk Congalton (.314). Pickering played for Louisville, Cleveland, Philadelphia, the St. Louis Browns and Washington, compiling a .272 average. He was also the American League’s first batter. On opening day of the circuit’s first major league campaign, 1901, three of the four scheduled games were rained out. The only one played was Cleveland at Chicago and Pickering was the Indians’ leadoff man. Congalton played four seasons for the White Sox, Indians and Red Sox, batting .290. Among other starters who saw major league action were second baseman Zeke Wrigley (.258), shortstop Rudy Hulswitt (.276), third baseman Jap Barbeau (.246) and outfielder Lefty Davis (.278).

Leon, That postcard is one of a series of 16 issued by Columbus that year. I have a copy, but not quite like yours. Only 2 have baseball themes. The other shows the stadium.

Edit to add. I've never seen one with the yellow color. All the others I've seen are in black and white.
Edit to add. They also went on to win the championship again the next year to make them 3 time champions. And yes, all the information you have is correct. All the other games on opening day were rained out so Pickering was credited with the first American league AB.

Leon, the yellow was added by the sender, but what I find the most interesting about the postcard is the head-paste-job on the guy in the top row far left, maybe the Columbus Dispatch was unhappy with the original photo. As has been stated the postcard was from a series of 16 with only 2 being with a baseball theme, the other is pictured below, the other 14 were scenes in and around the city of Columbus.

Thank ya'll for the follow up. This is really a quite interesting postcard. I noticed the mascot and always think they are neat. I hadn't noticed the guy's head pasted on in the top row, left. We have really seem some weird pictures lately....dead people, people in trees, caskets....this one has a glued on head...what next?

Steve, Great postcard. I have never seen the 1907 Championship team. I believe you are correct that it is the same team and it is the American Assc.

I've owned two of the 1906 postcards and have seen them for the last 3 years and never noticed the head pasted on before. Great catch and some wierd stuff going on with postcards lately.

Anyone knows if George Dummy Kihm (first baseman) played this team. We have last recorded of team he played for 1905 Columbus, but doesnt say anything about him playing with Senators 1906 and 1907. We suspected Kihm in far right with moustache. We found several pictures of him with moustache. Same for 1907 postcard from Steve. Same guy with moustache.

George Kihm played for the Columbus Senators from 1904-08..he then played for Grand Rapids, MI in the Central League from 1909-1911. He has no record after 1911.

The player to the far right of the 1906 has definitely been identified as first baseman Kihm. Comparing the 1906 and the 1907 postcards it is clear that he appears on both cards.

No, he is the far right guy standing in the 1906 and the far right guy in the 1907.

My copy (and I don't have a real good scan with me) has the names of all the players written in pencil above and/or below their pictures.
