Default Bonilla gets balloon payments from Mets

I wouldn't mind the $200K / year gig from MLB either!

Just incredible. I wonder what Jon Stewart would say about this.

It does seem as though deferred payments would be useful to a lot of players who managed to blow all of their money a few short years after making it. However, based on those spending habits, I'm betting that Bobby Bo will be Bobby Broke at some point.

I'd be shocked if he did. Between the 3 different payouts and salaries he's going to clear nearly $2Mill a year for the next several years and the Mets are paying him for the next 25 years.

Bonilla's ex-wife certainly earned her alimony by convincing him to take these deals, instead of getting a lump sum right away.

Hopefully he hasn't already spent the money by putting himself into deep debt, in anticipation of the payouts.

I figure he and Ollie Perez should get together and yuck it up at the Mets expense. That's why they're called "Amazing" I guess.
