Question for Baseball Historians

Do any of you know how I could find out which hotels that opposing teams stayed at when they went on the road. I am looking to find out what hotels visiting NL teams stayed at when they traveled before 1935 (to Chicago, Pittsburgh, etc.).

Don't know if this will help much, but the media guides in the 1960s and 1970s that I once collected had this information in them.

Don't know if media guides go back that far but it might be a start.

I can tell you that when teams came into Chicago to play the Cubs, most teams stayed at the Edgewater Beach Hotel which was just north of the ball park. The Chicago Tribune just recently ran a special on this hotel using pictures on their archives. This special included a shot of Babe Ruth and his wife, relaxing in their suite at the Edgewater Beach Hotel before the 1932 World Series.

This hotel was also the same one that Eddie Waitkus of the Phillies was shot in. There are a few pictures of this event in this Tribune special as well. Good luck in finding information on other cities.

Did you make a hotel find Matt?
I tried that once,, Babe Ruth used to have a room at the Ansonia Hotel in Manhattan,, his place for trysts. Also the Black Sox stayed at the Ansonia in 1919.
But the hotel had nothing .

When the Pirates moved to Forbes Field in 1909, players would stay at the Schenley Hotel, now the William Pitt Union on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.

According to the Cincinnati Reds Player Roster and Spring Training schedule in 1938, here are the hotels that they stayed at while on the road:

Philadelphia (N)- Bellevue Stratford Hotel
New York- Giants and Dodgers (N)- Governor Clinton Hotel
Boston (N)- Touraine Hotel
Pittsburgh (N)- Schenley Hotel
St. Louis (N)- Coronado Hotel
Chicago (N)- Belmont Hotel
