Default 1952 Mickey Mantle?

Ok guys I came across this auction last night and didnt know what to think of it. Has anyone heard of the grading company that originally graded this card? The card obviously didnt sell, but the seller has over 300 positive feedbacks. Do you think this card is authintic? Thanks

It is not real and not even a good fake.

Here's a link to a real Mantle. The differences are easy to spot.

Forgive me for outing this but with 4060 Views, I think it would be impossible to miss.

Vanessa: you can tell whether a '52 Topps is real or fake by looking only at the grading co. who holdered the card. If it is not one of the big four, it is fake.

Can you identify the "big four" easily yet? If you have any doubts, work on it. For a '52 Mantle, it is a certain way to tell.

Vanessa - don't forget... if a person had a real '52 Topps Mantle graded a 6 and worth $20,000+, would they ever offer it for a $3,000 BIN???

Common sense is the best tool for judging real/fake cards. If you see a card on eBay that is worth double or more than the seller is asking for it, trust me - it's a fake. If you see an expensive raw card on eBay and the seller says he needs to sell quickly and can't afford grading, it's fake.

<<"defunked">>

I believe you are correct. This means that they specialized in George Clinton and Bootsie Collins rookie cards.

Bought this in 92 from Steve Novella when I was not concerned about centering and registry--one of these days I will upgrade.

Jim C.,

I suspected that a couple of posts about Parliment/Funkadelic and/or James Brown might draw you out. No lyrics today?

You gotta feel there's a thang goin round gettin down--there's a whole lot of rhythm goin down

We want the funk
Gotta have some funk
We need the funk
Give up the funk

Jim did you know that Phillippe Wynne who sang lead on most of the Spinners big hits left the band to go with Parliament/Funkadelic...the died of a heart attack at age 39.
