Default Yankee 'You Sketch It' project

Vintage related anyway even though the 'You Sketch It' cards were inserted in a 2010 product. I just finished it last night and thought some of you might enjoy seeing these:

closer individual scans of each card can be found in my bucket.

You're awesome! Are you going to send them back in? You'd probably win!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. Half way through, I read the back carefully and it says that sketches should use pictures from 2010 topps bowman products. That would disqualify all of these

Wait a minute.... you just finished it last night as in you just finished
sketching those cards? Those look fantastic!

What's the story behind those? I'm assuming they're inserts, then you
make your sketch, send them in, and Topps turns them into real cards?

edit: just googled it and got the scoop on these cards. Pretty cool
idea by Topps. Woundedduck, despite not using current photos, those
cards are still amazing. You should create another set following their
guidelines & keep the set you posted. Perhaps you could still use your
"Passing the Legacy" theme and use a current player image from a 2010
product, alongside and old-time HOFer from the same franchise (similar
to your Jeter/Mattingly card).

Also, where can I find a link to your photobucket? Thanks.

Good job. Only observation I would make is that when the batter's head obscures the "a" in "Passing" as it does in 3 of your first 4 sketches, those of us who aren't Yankee fans may subconsciously substitute a different vowel in our heads.

Forgot the photobucket link isn't in my sig. This should get you to my sketch card album with some of the others I've done

http://s241.photobucket.com/albums/f...ketch%20Cards/

being critical. I wanted a title to clearly show the purpose for the series, however on some of the individual cards, too much of the title gets covered up. As a series I think it works because you can see what it says, but on some of the individual cards, if seen by themselves, it can be tough

I still think you should send them in anyways. They may make an exception

I think I'd keep them since the rules seem to say that the sketches have to be of 2010 Topps or Bowman products and once they are sent in they are property of Topps and can't be returned. If I could draw a card that looks half as good as those I wouldn't want to send them away and not get them back. Maybe they have an email address where you could send them scans first to see if they would consider them.

Personaly, to realize the most out of them I would get them autographed by the players and then consign them to Coach's Corner!

In all seriousness, they are beautiful and a great idea. I would not send them to Topps as part of their contest though. If they don't meet the rules then you really can't win. I would approach Topps separately though with the idea. It is a great concept and great execution. Somewhat reminds me of the 1997 Topps Etch-A-Sketch inserts. That was a case where Topps saw wha teh kid was doing with Etch-A-Sketch and commissioned him to do the insert set for them.

Very nice, when I first saw them I didn't realize you had come up with the idea and I thought "Wow, Topps came up with an idea I would be interested in"

I would not send them to Topps.
