Default Incredible Gesture by a Fellow Board Member

I felt like this deserved its own thread.

I'd like to give a huge thank you to NJ Dunkin. Total stranger, aside from our conversations via email/PM on this board. He told me the other day he had a card he wanted to send me - said it would look good in my collection. He knows I'm slowly but surely putting together The Monster. So he sends me this card as a gift for absolutely no reason. I don't have the card, nor do I have the back. Unbelievable gesture. So thank you, NJ. I really appreciate it, and will get you back eventually!

I agree that this selfless act always gets overlooked because of the negative individuals in the industry.

However, as a post WW2 collector, could someone please tell what this card is and how it is a key to this set?

Many thanks,

Tom

Great job NJ Dunkin, that's what it is all about !

I'd like to add a side story. About 4 1/2 years ago I started building
a low grade Monster T206 set for my then 8 year old son. I waited
until I had acquired roughly 350 different before I put together
and official want list. The first person I sent the list to was Sir Dan Mckee.
True to Dan's nature he drops me a quick email and says " I had a few
and I sent them to you" To that I replied great, thank you Dan. What do I owe you ?

He then says, " There for your son right?, there's no charge "

What can you say other than, great hobby, greater people !

Thanks again and again Dan !!!

The card is Chief Meyers. It is not a key card in the T206 set. The key cards in this set range from $1,000 (Demmitt & Ohara PSA 1) to $400,000 (Wagner PSA1).
The back is a Tolstoi, which is somewhat more difficult that a common back.

Default Awesome Job

NJ, you are the man !

I know your purchases have been budget minded, and for you to do something like that, you deserve every kind word that has been said.

Really nice gesture, NJ!

I have to give my shout out to John Dreker, when I was putting my T206 set together, I got down to two cards and received an email for John not to purchase them, they were heading my way. Sure enough a couple days later had the two cards at no charge from John, another great guy in the hobby. They are out there, a shame the bad ones put such a scar on the hobby.
