Default Sheffield

Some oddities collectors believe that there are two versions of the Sheffield card....a cropping difference that results in either a small or large gap between his cap and the r e in Future

Interesting, I did not realize that belief was out there....just something else to pay attention to!

The variation absolutely exists, I do not have scans handy. The difference is most noticeable where is chain, collar and the team logo intersect.

Edited to add a scan that I stole from ebay, and to say that they are very easy to find, not "rare" in any definition of the word.

Doug---I have both versions. The cropping difference exists on several of the Future star cards....when I said some collectors think two versions exist, I meant some "odd" collectors think so...like you.....and me

Thanks guys. I love the card but my fav of his is the 56!
This was the last biggie for my 55 set. Down to 17 high numbers, mostly commons.
This was the most I have ever paid for a single card!

I've been picking off mostly commons for my EX and up '56 set, but took this one down on ebay the other night. Was pretty happy with it when I got it in hand!

Just got this in, a tv ad for for alpha bits with Drysdale showing the cards. Pretty neat, it's the actual ad on 16mm film that a station would splice into whatever show it was in.

Wow, very nice pickups Pat. LMK if any of those '57s are upgrades to your set. I need all but 2 and could provide a nice home for your discards!

I hate to say it, but sadly, I've stayed in modern mode lately...It'll pass, and I'll be back to vintage soon enough.. The Strasburg and Beltran(Lebron)/Gonzalez are refractors.

Yeah, yeah. I know Gio, Prado and Ethier aren't exactly the most desirable cards, but they've been huge fantasy studs for me this year, so they deserve representation in my collection..

Great cards everyone! Here are some random cards I've picked up recently. The centering on the Sutter RC is fantastic!
