Default Tom Seaver Mets Team Issue Questions

Hi-
I just purchased the Tom Seaver photo scanned below and I believe it is a team issue. Can anyone confirm this? Also, he looks very young. Does anyone know what year this is from? It is blank backed.

Thanks in advance,
Alan

There is a guy named Dave Berman (don't have his email memorized) that was the Mets bets cataloguer. I'd look him up and see if you can contact him

I'm a Seaver collector and have never seen that one before. The photo looks similar to the photo on the premium that came with the Tom Seaver baseball game, but the background is very different. I wish I had more information for you.

And if you're ever interested in selling it ...

As long as we're talking Seaver team issues, any idea of date on this one?

Adam, I'd call your Seaver a "publicity photo" or "media photo." These were issued by the team to newspapers and other media outlets so that they could include a photo of the player in a story. It's hard to put an exact date on it, but Seaver sure looks young, so I'd say late 1960s.

Adam-your B&W Seaver looks like what they would send back when you wrote in for an autograph and didn't send anything for the player to sign. I had a bunch of similar ones back in the day, maybe from a year or two after the Seaver you show where they used a more well known pose.
