Default Post all things of "The Georgia Peach"

I'll start it off with a terrific vintage original TYPE I photograph c.1910 by the legendary lensman and Ty's dear friend...Louis Van Oeyen.

Default One of the first photos I ever bought...

Like the caption on the scrapbook states... "Tyrus, Himself"

The uniform dates this to circa 1916-17.

{Leon has to surely ban all these people posting those nasty cards on the wrong forum )

Joe

I do have a beautiful copy of Busting Em; it was unfortunatley bound into library binding about 1920, and never opened again. The book without dust jacket is "not uncommon", but my quest will continue to find a copy with a dust jacket. As with a number of early 20th century books, dust jackets are exceedingly rare.

I've only seen one. It was auctioned by Mastro I believe (or perhaps Barry) when Steve Cummings' baseball book and ephemera collection was sold

Ditto on the pennant! Insanely rare, and unheard of in that nice condition. By far my favorite item in this great thread!

Here's my pennant contribution...

This is without a doubt, a Ty Cobb Pennant from the early teens. Note the Tiger's striking facial resemblance with the cocky grin, and his split-handed grip on the bat. One of my very favorites.

Wish I could post a larger picture, but lately the system is severely limiting the file size (so I'm having to cut them way down). Anybody know why/when this started?

The resemblance is there, but isn't the Tiger on the pennant batting right-handed?

Good catch... influenced by Cobb, or "in the manner of Cobb" then? Not sure the artist paid close enough attention, or if this righty pose just worked better for the pennant.

International News of Cobb.

Based on the stamping on reverse and Henry Yee's work, this was either printed from 1910-1920 or reprinted in 1920-1921. The stamp difference is in the font, and it's too difficult for me to tell.

The scan is poor - I had to copy the original from the auction house database.

The clarity amazes me - love this one.
