Default e90-2 Wagner.... price jump? two big snipes?

Posted By: Joe D.

A 4 (SGC 50) just went for $15,350 on eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160162088733

but not too long ago, a 5 went for $11,750 in REA's auction.

One grade lower - but 30% higher in about 6-months time.

Is this price appreciation?
The great 'two big snipes' on eBay?
A little of both?
something else?

No snipes on eBay, high bidder was there for the final few minutes, and it's really tough to tell with the private listing. My guess is appreciation and a good looking 50.

Are you selling Joe?

I don't know. With all respect, why use private bidding with Ebay's policy of blocking everyone but the winner? Something is weird here.

Sean,

I'd only sell or trade mine if it directly helped me get a card I was after.
I don't see that happening any time soon.

Jeff -
I agree. It is weird. And the resulting price is breaking new ground.

I kinda like the "private" bidder on an item like this. I don't want my wife to know that I spent this much on one card.

Zinn -- man, if your wife is searching you out on ebay for completed auctions you're in trouble! Congrats on a great card.

Amend my post to delete the word "don't" and replace it with the word "wouldn't". (She also reads this board.

It is an awesome card.

I 'would' allegedly congratulate you on the pickup, hypothetically speaking.

(I say worth every penny. I just didn't know it would go at that price.)

You really don't see E90-2 Wagners that nice very often. It was a perfectly centered high end 50. I can see why it sold for so much (but that sure is a lot of money).
