Default Bambino Pinto Bean Bag 100lb.

I just picked up this sort of oddball item. I tried doing a bit of research but didn't find too much on it other than it being made in the 1960's. It also said the company didn't get the Ruth family's permission to use Ruth's image and the company went out of business and bags weren't produced for long.

Is this info accurate? Being a farmer myself, I have burlap bags like this and this item sort of bridges the gaps of my job and my love for the Babe!

I was just curious if anyone knew anymore info on these bags. Approximate rarity, dates, etc....

I had one once but sold it to a board member, I always thought it was a pretty neat item.

Yea, I did a quick search and saw that thread. I had seen one years ago on ebay but don't remember the asking price. I thought it was cool item too and bought this one for $75.

I've got two of them that I picked up on Ebay about 10-12 years ago, very cheap. They have since just about disappeared. The Ruth estate blocked their use of the Babe's image on their sacks and the company went out of business.

There is also a similar burlap sack from the Kundert potato company in California that has Ted Williams' image on the sack. The the owner of the company died and the company went out of business in the 70's. there is another potato company under the same family name (Kundert farms in Edison, CA). Is anyone familiar with this sack?

John

I don't think I've seen the Ted Williams one. I think it was probably 5 or so years ago that I saw the Ruth one on ebay. There's probably been others that I didn't notice but it seems as though it's not something that comes up all that often I guess.

A little off topic but what kind of a farmer are you?

I grow hydroponic produce for a living in a greenhouse.

I have a small 40'X76' greenhouse and in season have about 1 acre outside. Kept it small so I can do it all myself. I sell at 3 Farmers markets and to 1 grocery store.

To keep it a little on topic that is a cool Ruth item.

Very nice, that's great you do it all yourself, We have pretty big market that we sell most of our stuff direct from. Plus we open some fields up for the pick your own with a number of crops.
