Default Let's see your 1927 Original New York Yankee Photos/Memorabilia!

Hello everyone,

First, let me say I do realize that I have not been an avid poster/contributor to this site, but I follow many of the posts made in this section of Net54 on a daily basis. Being a younger collector and having a true passion for Original Baseball Photography, I have learned a TON from all of you here that have contributed with your experience and knowledge of vintage photography. I really enjoy learning about photography as well as watching others' collections grow. To make up for my lapse in time without making many posts, I finally have uploaded my photos and wanted to share my collection that I have put together over the past few years! Please feel free to view it here:

http://sportscollectorsdaily.ning.com/profile/Bryan

I'm pretty sure Jimmy started a thread years ago in regard to 1927 Yankees memorabilia, but I wanted to hit the refresh button by creating a new thread and see what new and exciting material has been found! My collection is focused on large format Original Lou Gehrig & Babe Ruth Type 1 Photographs, primarily from the greatest season Major League Baseball has ever seen by any team, the 1927 New York Yankees! Wanted to also give a special THANK YOU to everyone here who have helped me assemble my collection thus far, especially Jimmy, Ben, Mark and Rhys to name a few. If anybody has any 1927 Yankee photos/memorabilia they would like to share from their own collection, I would love to see what others may have! I am always looking for more photos to add to my collection, so if anybody would be interested in selling or trading any photos regarding the 1927 Yankees season, please feel free to inquire. Thanks again to everyone and I look forward to hearing feedback on my collection and seeing what others have to share as well!

Bryan

I have alot will start with 2. My Gehrig photo is almost the same as yours. Probably taken on the same day.
Great shot of Ruth and Huggins. you dont see many with him. And boy he was a small guy.
And please no PMs to ask if the items are for sale.

Awesome stuff everyone! '27 Yankees photos/memorabilia are some the coolest baseball relics out there IMO...So much history from some of the greatest moments the game has ever seen!

Al,

Nice photos! Just was curious how long you have been collecting for? What inspired you to collect '27 Yankees memorabilia? Look forward to seeing more!

I'm slowly working on a long panorama illustration of the '27 Yankees. Here is the catching staff part of it.

Bryan,
Long time collector 30+years but not really a focus on the 27 yankees more of a focus on the yankees in general. Being 35 minutes form the stadium and my father was involved in food distribution at one time with the yankees. I was there alot and grew up at the end of the mantle era start of the munson era. A few more photos for you. And by the way nice items everyone! David you know I always love your items!

Some stuff from Ray Morehart's estate: 1927 World Series program (coverless), 1927 Spring Training schedule, 1980's booklet about the 1927 team (on its way to a friend ), and a Ray Morehart figure - the only piece from this group that I still have.

RMY Auctions (Rhys Yeakley) has a nice selection of 1927 Yankees images in their September auction:

Default My contribution

Late 1927 phot of Ruth and Gehrig barnstorming in Iowa.

Sept 14, 1927 portrait

August 1927 at Christy Walsh's Lake House with Walsh's son

October 1927

August 10, 1927

2 from the 1927 WS

Probably my second favorite piece. 1927 fan taken Team picture snapshot from Spring Training 1927. I have never seen another fan taken team photo, of any team, prior to this one. I don't think many of the photo sessions were open to the public, plus, at the time, people didn't carry around cameras like today. I doubt another fan taken team photo, from that time period, exists and certainly not of the 27 Yanks.

[/URL]

It matches this pro photo of the team quite nicely.

Default Ruth/Gehrig Photo

Just posted this in the October pickups thread, but thought I would also add it to my '27 Yankees thread to keep it going. One of the FINEST Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Photographs ever taken!
