Default #1 on your wantlist?

Posted By: jay behrens

What's the #1 card on your wantlist? This is the card that if serveral cards at the top of your want list came available would be the one card from that group that you would really want.

For me, since I've eliminated all minor league cards from my player set quest, the top card on my list is the J=K candy Bedient card. Sadly, there is only one example that I know of and can only hope the owner takes pity on me and offers it to me when he decides to sell. After that, the toughest cards for me to get will be some t207s like Kutina and Bauman a couple of Voskamps pirates and Star Player cards.

My #1 card is T210 Series 6 Angermeier Frankfort (fielding). This has been so illusive I haven't even been able to find a scan of it --if someone has the card, a scan would be appreciated very much!

Ohhhhhhh, Jay, since you're forcing me to choose.......I suppose my current #1 would be an N172 arms-folded pose of Mike Griffin.

Can someone help a brother out?

I can help you out with it Kevin if you can find the #1 card on my wantlist which is an OJ Mike Griffin batting pose.A card ive never seen before either, not even a scan.I'll gladly trade that silly "waiting on line impatiently at the dmv with arms folded" pose of good ole Mike

If I could pick one card right now, it would be the E90-1 Cy Young in mid grade. I dont know what it is about that card, but it has me in a trance when I see it.
Cleveland or Boston version, doesnt matter......
Anyone seen a decent one lately.

Hasn't changed in the last six months, I still really want a 1911 Zeenut Halla. If that is too difficult to come by, I guess a lower condition E95 Cobb would be my second choice.

Help a brutha out!

Since this seems to be working how about any old D304 with a General Baking back? I have nice D304's for potential trade and would even trade a better one for worse one, as long as there's no paper loss on it. The other's on my want list I think I can forget about......it's gonna be a major auction and I pay through the nose or another trucker boy find, which will be as likely as winning the lotto twice ......never hurts to keep hunting though....

Since I recently picked up my Cobb Red, the next card on my list will be a Matty w/black cap.

I have been actively searching for a FR to VG Tip-Top George Gibson and an E90-2 Deacon Phillippe (same range). Number one on my list however would be a 1933 Diamond Matchbook Arnie Herber.

I'm still looking for an N142 Duke Cabinet George Davis. No one took me up on my offer to partner on the Mastro lot, so if anyone on the board wins the lot, and wants to sell the Davis, please let me know. I'd consider purchasing any N142 Davis, even a low grade example. Thanks.

Since I'll never complete a T card type set (someone keeps reminding me about some mythical T231 Fans card ), I'd be happy finding a 1910 D380 Clements Bread example and someday completing the D issues.

Mine would be the very difficult card of Wes Livengood in the W711-1 1939 Cincinnati Reds set. It's prevented me from completing that set for years. Very few copies extant, I'd guess.

Or, a Seigle. For those of you who picked these up last year cheap (especially the Mathewsons that graded a 2) - I will give $2k for one of those graded "2" Matty's!!!!!!!!!!

I might have to wait a couple of months to save my loose change for this one though. If anyone has a picture of one I'd love to see it so I can drool over it. All four of the T206 Ty Cobb would be a close second.

E98 Coombs. Can't seem to find this one to complete my set. I even bid high on a trimmed one offered a month or two ago-but the snipe service failed. Also, an E253 Oxford Walter Johnson ranks high on my want list.

Maybe I lust after the McPhee...I think anyhone familiar with my collection and the Mastro auction could probably figure it out...but WHY WASTE YOUR TIME DOING THAT?

Lot 963: a very low grade OJ Boston Kelly portrait, with a very nice front.

I need the T-3 Evers to complete the set. I'd like a high-grade example, preferably raw since I hate to have those guys in their coffins. After Johnny, a low-grade E95 Cobb or Wagner to complete the set.
Cheers, Mike

An affordable m116 Moore. I've looked for one for a while and have only come up with one and it was a psa8...way too much money for me to spend on a non hall of famer.

Picked up the W517 mini and Kashin O'Doul cards (ironically, I was chasing the Kashin throughout the National without success but found one on ebay when I got back). The "holy grail" continues to elude me: 1918 Zeenut O'Doul.

when I collected types and rare backs. A T215 Red Cross Cobb Bat Off Shoulder! It will not grade above a Fair 20, but is nice to me nonetheless! Actually got it from eBay using a Buy It Now - who says you can't find deals on eBay that are listed correctly!?!?

Now that I have this Cobb (when it arrives) and a Croft's Cocoa Cobb, I guess it is time to quit collecting. Nah - too many other nice cards out there to go after!

Scott:

Reference the Red Cross Cobb you picked up...great job! I think I would've jumped at it too had I been home and on the computer.

I do have to ask though...
Do you feel comfortable its not a fake? I only ask b/c the seller has T206 Cobb also for sale that I thought looked shaddy, but maybe legit. I emailed them yesterday, the response I got back was:

"The card has some red pigment missing and corners are rounded, but in my opinion the card would still grade out between a 3 or 5. This is NOT a altered reprint. Check my feedback, I don't sell fakes."

With the exception of a T3, I don't see much of a vintage history.

Brian
