Ok John,

You've piqued my interest. What did you get the '62 Mantle for? That is one year of his cards that I believe to be undervalued.

Nice card.

Nice eye appeal on the 2.5 Bowman Mantle.

I hope that isn't a pen mark on the Mick's forehead on the 62 ?

I've shown this one on here before but hey it's my only Mantle (so far) and was actually a gift from my wife which makes it that much better for me

Great cards so far. The '52 is off the charts, Bob. And Dave's initial entry has me still going back to see if I can see an iota of "off-centeredness". And so many other greats ones shown, very nice...
'
Don't know what the technical grade will be but this '51 has some good eye appeal in hand in light of the wrinkle/crease running vertically on the right. It runs about 63.5% of the width of the card (that's a joke but it might be close). Oh well....
My goal as an auctioneer was to have the card in hand look exactly the same as on the screen. I remember adjusting a few settings so they would come out that way when the lucky winner viewed them in hand. This looks as good or better in hand. When I first got into collecting again, as a 30 something, I had a PSA 6 1951 Mantle and eventually sold it when I went backward, time-wise, into pre-war. This card probably has better eye appeal, the crease not withstanding than that first one.

That Mantle rookie looks better than MANY sixes and sevens. Centered and registered. Savvy pickup, sir.

Default 1967

Orlando--if your other 67 does not have the red dot above the S in Yankees, it is not an upgrade, it is the second of 3 versions of this card

This was discussed in the long variations thread. Anyone think Topps tried to do something with the bat knob in Mantle's sweet spot ? Some say yes, others no. Since the ones that look a little different are the scarcer of the two, maybe just a print defect rather than intentional fudging

Default Mantle Comic Book?

This isn't a pick up yet, but I was hoping someone here could tell me about this and it's potential value? There may be a whole case of them?

These are available in an Estate Sale I am going to tomorrow morning. I am posting a different thread on the sale and other items in it, so you may see this twice.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Chris, the picture contains issue one and two of the magazine. They were released in 1991 and 1992. It looks like you can pick them up for less than five dollars shipped from eBay--there is one at .99 with free shipping right now.

1962 with a 1964 overlay. Don't pull up my prior quotes please about how I was getting this one. Recently popped up on eBay, the price was right, and I was anxious to see it in person and examine it.

I wouldn't. They are great in strip form. And there are plenty of individual ones graded already.

I wouldn't. Like Chris said, keep them in strip form. I think they're much rarer that way.

Also, and more importantly, unless it's just a bad photo, I'd say you won't get a very high grade for the cut out Mantle. He's missing the top of his head/hat.

Best bet on this is Authentic. You're better off getting it slabbed as a 3-player panel as Authentic than cutting the Mantle off.

1951 Bowman followed by 1952 Topps. Just like in real life, his rookie card followed by a second year card. Sweet stuff for breakfast. Great pick-ups gents!

There are two ways:
1. If you have a flickr (or the like) account you can copy and paste the proper link(s) from there and your cards will appear.
2. If you have jpg's or what not on your computer, when you go to post, click on the paper clip icon and a 'manage attachments' window will come up. From there, locate the file on your computer and upload it. Then go back to where you were and when you click on the paper clip now, your file will appear under it. Just select it and it will appear in your post.

With number 2, sometimes the file will be too big to upload, so you'll have to go back into photoshop or whatever and reduce the size of the file. You want it to be (I believe) at most around 1MB or slightly larger.

Ok I'll try. I don't know what a jpg is, but I would like to show off my new additions.
I can build a house, but I can not do much on a computer.
I may have to just describe #s 10 and 564.

It's just a type of graphic file. There are also png, gif, tiff and a million other types.

Nice card, Tom! Iconic.

looking back on this page, I guess the same could be said for Jerry's sweet PSA 2 and Johnny's PSA 7. Something about that '53 Topps.

Grabbed these on COMC during the Black Friday sale in November:
Had to reload some cash onto COMC when I saw this pop up (cost $260); paid $2 for them to give it a condition review and they consider it Near Mint. RECEIVED PSA 4 VG-EX; ARGH!

Exhibits batting - should be an upgrade RECEIVED PSA 5 EX

EX+ Bronx Bombers - might be an upgrade?

1963 Exhibit with red stats on back RECEIVED GOOD 2

1952 Exhibits Yankees Team card RECEIVED PSA 4 VG-EX?

Default The official Mickey Mantle Pickup Thread. All Mick, all the time!

Don’t know a ton about this other than my father owned it in the 60s. He never hung it up, and it remained rolled until we unearthed it from his childhood home. There is some staining, but it’s a really awesome piece. It measures 44 inches tall and 30 inches wide. If anyone has more info, I’d love to hear anything about it.
