Default Are these two cards the same?

Forgive my ignorance but I am interested to hear from more schooled collectors on the impact of a scanner on the appearance of a card. At the risk of sounding accusatory, which is not my intent at all, I am wondering if these two cards are the same:

The colors are obviously different but could the be due to the different scanners/camera? The bottom card sold on ebay on Jan 16 and the top card with the same PSA # is currently listed by the person that won the auction.

Again, I'm not accusing anyone of anything and this is more out of my own ignorance than anything else. I emailed with the current seller and he stated that he's just looking to flip it.

Thanks,
Dan

Probably a scanner setting and/or a scan background difference. Having white behind one card and black behind the other will affect perception of the color.

Agreed that it's just the scanner settings. If you're considering buying it, I would hold out for a better card. Looking at that top right corner ding, no way should that card have ever graded an 8.

It's either a scanner setting or they loaded it into any number of photo editing software packages and hit the "auto correct" button and it enhanced the color and adjusted the exposure.

I agree - here is a view of the two images side-by-side for easier comparison, along with another shot of the first image, to which I added a slight red overlay. I think a scanner with its color tone shifted a little toward the red end could produce the same change.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, at least when it comes to scan settings. I too believe its the same card. Is it yours, or are you buying it?

Default Aaron

I believe they are likely the same card. It is hard to compare various shades and tones of color with different scanners.

Thanks everyone. It's not mine, I'm considering buying it. But that top right corner does have me wondering though.

I appreciate everyone's input. Like I said, I really have no idea how scanners work and while I didn't think someone was trying to pull a fast one I just wasn't sure why the colors would look so different.

Default Centering looks nice

If the corner doesn't bother you buy it. I wouldn't not buy a card I liked because of someone else not liking it for the grade. If it fits your collection go for it. Sometimes cards look better in hand anyway, plus some people on here never like a card in a PSA holder. For the record not my card.
