Default Regarding The PSA 10 Brett RC On Ebay...

Does anyone else see a ghosted image of his name, under and beneath his name? Otherwise a sharp, worthy card, but curious how other collectors feel about that.

I have seen this ghosted double-name before on Bretts, but always assumed it would knock a card down-- since it is easily visible to the naked eye and detracts from eye appeal.

Then again I readily concede I am an obscenely picky collector.

Brett RC PSA 10

I'm far from a grading expert, but isn't the left side of the card a little rough for a PSA 10?

I've seen some graders like that cut, others not so much. For me, the centering l/r is strong. T/B is okay for a 10, not a big issue there. The rough cut, some guys like it, some not. But that ghosted name image just does not work for my eye. Because it is so visible, if I were a grader, I'd call that a super-high-end 9. Without that ghosted image, a 10 no problem.

Then there's price.

I'm just sayin'-- cartoonishly boosted color on the ebay scan notwithstanding-- no way do I think the 10 is worth $13,000 or more than the lovely 9 below.

Call me crazy, but I will take the Brett in 9, a Clemente RC in 6, and a Shoeless Joe RC in 1 (or any combination of such cards) over a single 10 all day everyday.

I'm not seeing the ghosting of the name. Catch me at 10-11 tonight and I might after I have a couple beers In all seriousness, I am not impressed with this card. I am sure it will go for crazy money due to a number of factors. I am with you, that I would rather have the PSA 9 that you are showing. Is that yours? Wanna sell it

I like Brent, but man does he need to do something about his auctions. I will start a new thread for my rant.

I guess I am a bit crazy picky; I hope someone else can see the ghosted GEORGE under the name, otherwise I may be crazier than I thought, LOL.

Yeah, my never-reviewed PSA 9 right there. Bought it from original subber who found it in a raw set he purchased. They are out there! The PWCC scan is on crazy scan steroids though, seeing what my natural setting scans look like for comparison.

I just think it is truly, truly insane, that were the 9 and 10 both raw at a show, I can say with complete certainty that I would pick the 9. And yet because of a grader's sticker, the lesser example will sell for some $13,000 dollars more. Insert the whole "card vs holder" thing here, LOL.

I agree with Miller. I saw that auction yesterday and was very unimpressed with that "10". I would say there are at least a handful of 9's out there that are nicer on the eyes.

I agree they are out there. My Brett doesnt have the centering that yours does, but mine is pack pulled and submitted. I love submitting pack pulled cards and having them graded. I would say more than 50% of my Modern Rookies are all pulled and submitted by me. That makes the card just a little more special to me.

Look how bright it can get, how sharp, how creamy the lower blue can be made. And I'm a rank amateur and messed up the effect on the edges. My first scan is completely normal, as are all my usual scans, to reflect the card in its natural state.

The PWCC scan is like seeing a model in a magazine, and then meeting them in real life and being like-- "Well, you are still hot, but NOTHING like that Vogue spread shot by Terry Richardson."

I think your 9 is much better than that 10. Never understood the purchasing of a plastic case with a number that some guy somewhere says the card is.

I can't see the double printed name at the bottom either. I like this Brett, I agree the scan sucks (especially the way it turns the green puke colored), but the card is pretty much perfect to me. Not worth the price, but then again, is any piece of cardboard "worth" $10,000+?

Default 75 rc Brett

I would love to own the 10 with any condition problems The last one
I saw go up for sale was around 12,000. I bet this one goes for more
mainly because there seems to be a lot of bidders. I'm just glad
I have a 9 also. Believe it or not, I'm thinking maybe the 10 will go for 18-20,000

Matty C, your card has a cleaner surface, look between the George and the Brett at the bottom, see the white spots, your's isn't, also looks like to color's of purple, as far as the ten card, the left side the fibers are dancing, not a ten in my book, your's is cleaner

just my .2 cents
