Let's have some fun with this. Let's see who can come the closest to predicting tonights score. It feels like Super Bowl Sunday, in October, on a Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Sox 10, Yankees 2.
All the pressures on New York, and I have a feeling Wakefield shines. Could be way off.

Mike,

You may have single-handedly helped keep the curse alive by posting about game 7 before game 6 even ended.

Doesn't any of this sound at all familiar to you Sox fans? The great comeback from the brink of elimination. The clutch extra-innings hitting. Is 1986 really that long ago? Does the name Aaron Boone no longer sting your ears to hear?

Remember, Dave Henderson's home run came when they were down 3 games to 1 and they did eventually go on to win the game and the series. But where is the ring to show for it?

It's great to come back from being down 3 to 1, or in this case 3 to 0, but a win tonight doesn't mean a ring. It means a tragic game 7 World Series loss on a Pujols or Beltran homer and seeing someone else celebrate on your home field. Granted, you will have gotten to celebrate winning the pennant at Yankee Stadium. But that's as far as it goes.

Then again, this is game 7 of a postseason series. It just wouldn't be right for the Red Sox to lose anything but a game seven. And this series was going to go 7 games no matter who won the first 3. It was meant to.

Yes, I know: "But this year is different...this team is special."

Final score: Yankees 10, Red Sox 8.
Score after 7 1/3 innings: Red Sox 8, Yankees 7.

-Ryan

Yanks win 5-3 with Tony Clark as the unlikely hero ..forever to be remembered as Tony "freaking"(or something close to it) Clark

... one way or another, the result of this game is gonna drone on for quite awhile. This is not soccer or hockey so we know that there will be a winner.

If the Bosox earn the win, the fact that the pin stripe boys blew a 3-0 lead will have the big apple on the verge of eruption.

Now if the Yanks win, the Boston heart-break will be so huge that any hope of World Series glory will be gone for at least 10 years.

My Prediction - Yanks win in extra innings. Curse lives on.

Ciao

Mike

Boston would be up a run in the 9th. Bases loaded and two outs, the tying run would score on a wakefield wild pitch. Then a gimpy Giambi would come in and hit a walk off homerun. Oh, you also need a Texas Ranger w/ a steel chair...

I will be there tonight so I'm hoping for a game with the drama of last years game 7. My prediction, Yankees-6 Red Sox-5. Yankees down early and stage a late rally, with the go ahead run scoring in the bottom of eighth as Miguel Cairo singles to right to score Posada. Losing pitcher--Tim Wakefield. Winning pitcher--El Duque out of the bullpen.

When I read the question, the answer for me was obvious, but no one answered this way.

My prediction is I have no prediction, not a clue - I have no guess and I wouldn't want to guess. It's up to divine providence, the wheels of fate, destiny. It could so easily go either way...

I sure hope you are wrong. Since 48 I can recall all of the suffering, and while I hope the Sox win, I really hope that the game will be a blowout either way so that I have a good chance of living until tomorrow. Extra Innings - Ninth Inning win I'm not sure the ticker is up to it.

Red Sox take the lead in the top of the ninth, 13-12.

Only to lose 14-13 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, as Arod scores winning run on a passed ball of a Wakefield knuckler by legally "kicking" ball from his glove on play a plate.

But I'd rather see this series be remembered as the "Greatest Choke" of all time, one record that couldn't be broken.

Good stuff....thanks to both teams.

Using history as a guide, it stands to reason the "the curse" will rear it's ugly head in some way and the Red Sox will come up short once again. However, as a life long Yankee hater, I am hoping with every fiber of my being that this is not the case!!!!

Prediction - Sox 6, Yanks 2

I noticed your early posting because i was in my room listening to the game,i cant watch the yankees bat,so i usually just listen when theyre up.I didnt know what to say when you posted that last night. My initial reaction was you were trying to jinx them so i was going to say 'yankees just made an unbelievable comeback' but then if that actually happened i wouldve felt real bad.

I ended up just choking the monitor right below your name saying 'what the hell is wrong with you' over and over

Im definitely not making a prediction on the game but i do want to say Arod doesnt deserve to go anywhere past this round after what he did during the game[and what the fans did] and what he said after the game.He denied doing anything wrong eventho he clearly slapped at the guys arm like a little girl trying to swat a bee, then said he shouldve just run him over[heres an idea, get tagged out like everyone other player ever in that situation and be happy at least the runner advanced to 2nd base]
Then said he didnt want the umpires to talk anymore because the calls go against the yankees. The calls didnt go against anyone, the umpires got them right.Hes basically saying he wants to be able to cheat and get away with it.Very poor sportsmanlike from the yankees, the fans, and even Torre after the game trying to make excuses for something so blatant. They need to shut up and play and not expect things handed to them because theyre the Yankees, and they arent doing that so they dont deserve to win

Well, I predicted at the start of the ALCS that the Sox were gonna win 4 in a row....I didn't figued they were going to lose the first three though!

Game 7 final score, Sox 6 Yanks 4.

Sox will take the World Series in 6 games too!

I like the Red Sox and the over.

Final Prediction: Good 11 Evil 6

Nick

PS: I got the Sox at 9-1 to win the series. $40 to win $360

....doesn't turn into the "Curse of the Umpires".

The umpires have done a truely outstanding job so far....but to err is human.

I'd be feeling better win or lose, if there was instant replay.

But then again it would be great seeing Yankee fans "holding their tempers" upon losing because of a bad out call to end the game.

I predict I will have no fingernails left.

Manny is way overdue (0 RBI in 6 games). There's no such thing as pressure on his planet - he just hasn't delivered.

After what we saw from A-Rod last night (the post-cheating whining), I have a new Least Favorite Yankee. That was really cowardly.

Bill

I was talking to a friend at work, and we agreed that this would be the most fitting place and time in all these long years of Yankee domination..to end this stinking curse.
I'm a Cubs fan...so you know I'm rooting for the team that'll lose. Go Red Sox..but my prediction..

The Billion Dollar Payroll Team: 8 The Cursed: 3

I dearly hope I'm dead wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "The Curse" is NOT over if the Sox just win tonight. They have to go on and win the World Series for it truly to be over.

...only when the Sox win the World Series. For example, it didn't end when the Red Sox finished in 1st and the Yankees finished in 2nd in 1986 and the Red Sox lost in the World Series. Beating the Yankees on the way to the World Series in the ALCS is big, but it's a relatively new phenomena -- since it would've been impossible before 1995. The Curse has been around since 1918 and is based solely on World Series victories.

The Sox will blow a lead when an easy ground ball rolls thru Bill Buckner's legs in the 9th. The game will then end on a walk off HR by none other than Babe Ruth himself. Alas he will be wearing a Red Sox jersey though ending the curse forever. Seriously though, I'll go with the Sox 6-4.

Bill Buckner will throw out the first pitch and get a standing ovation. Gary Carter will catch the ball, be joined by Kieth Hernandez and they'll both point at Buckner and laugh hysterically. The Yankees fans will then all throw baseballs that will all go between Buckner's legs and the riot police will swarm out onto the baselines. The game will proceed and Bud Selig, arm in arm with Pete Rose, will call the game a tie no matter what the score and cancel the World Series this year in favor of a few October interleague exhibition games in Tokyo. Derek Jeter shocks the world by moving to Massachusettes and legally marries Pedro Martinez.

Haahaaaa....I'll keep the eyes in the back of my head looking out for Vito!!

A friend of mine and I were perplexed as to why Vegas bookies only gave NY 2-1 odds to win the series at the beginning. We thought it would have been easy money, and after game 3, would have been wishing we had more down. Shute, my parents live in Vegas, and its not uncommon for me to "employ" my old man to lay a bet for me. Well..I didn't have the time to do that, so I guess that some of the best bets are those that are never laid! And I'm SOOOOOOO glad I was wrong about last night, now if only my beloved Cubbies can create the same kjind of miracle in my lifetime (doubtful).

Nick, I've gotta drop by and check out your collection next time I'm in town..

Well Gary, there are some who would disqualify you for a lack of timliness in providing your guess. Those would then conclude that the thread's author was amazingly close with his prediction of 10-2. I wonder what yet to be revealed scandal lies there.
