Default T206 Experts, thoughts on this Cy Young Portrait?

Hi All,

First Post on Net54, and I was hoping to get some feedback on a T206 Cy Young Portrait I have. I sold this card about a month ago on E-Bay. I purchased about 15 T206's from an auction house (they were auctioning 100's from a personal collection).

The buyer notified me yesterday that GAI deemed it as questionable authenticity. Below are pics of the front and back.

What is everybody's thoughts here? Real? Fake? If fake, anything that tips you off?

Any insight is much appreciated!

First of all welcome to Net54baseball.com. The card definitely looks real to me too as well as "well-loved."

Certainly looks real, and definitely like a card that is 100 years old should look.

that guy should send it in to SGC or PSA, and Im sure itd be graded.

OT a bit, reminds me of Bob Costas and that, I think 1958, Mantle he always carried around. He was asked y, and he said "Someone always should have a religious artifact of some kind". What a line!

Great scans.

100% authentic but low grade obviously.

that's funny that GAI questions a real card's authenticity. they grade re-prints and seem to get them right

Honestly did not know that GAI is still in business. Thanks for the tip.

The "questionable authenticity" moniker should be pointed at the grading company. Beat up authentic T206's are still authentic.

Default Gai?

I'm surprised you would send the card to GAI. They are a very small player in grading these days, compared to SGC or PSA. I don't think an authentication by GAI would be worth paying for, at this point, anyway.

That card looks very real to me. I would tell your buyer to send it in to SGC (or PSA, but you need to be a member of PSA, expensive for just one card).
