Default Jim Musick

Anyone know of a football card of this guy? If there is one, I'm guessing it's not something "standard" (retired too soon to have a Chicle). He actually led the league in rushing one year.

After further research on same topic, there are more NFL rushing title winners I'm not finding cards for: Jim Musick (33); Doug Russell (35); Tuffy Leemans (36); Bill Osmanski (39); Pug Manders (41); Bill Paschal (43/44)

I didn't look too closely at AAFC (Spec Sanders card?) or AFL.

Hi John,

Jim Musick is in the 1933 Diamond Matchbook set but no other "cards" that I'm aware of. For many of the early NFL stars the best you're probably going to do is either a matchbook, a type 1 photo, or the cover of a game program.

Some of these players, like Tuffy Leemans, have newer cards (1977 Touchdown, Fleer Immortal Roll, Swell, etc) that aren't period as well.

Here's the only thing I have of Leemans that's period.

Thanks Jeff. And great photo! I'm really interested in the stars of the 30s and 40s - the ones who didn't make the HOF seem somewhat forgotten. There are some good references in the Nagurski bio I'm reading. I wish there was more video footage available too - strangely youtube actually has more than the NFL Network or NFL films - I'm guessing they just don't see a profitable market.

I'll be on the lookout for that matchbook of Musick - I do look at the matchbooks sometimes - but I don't think I'd collect them. A quick search on eBay and MSB didn't turn up one of Musick. Anyway, thanks again.

Awesome Image - he runs low. Thanks for the link.

I actually searched your site: http://www.footballcardgallery.com/s...?search=musick

before I made this post and it doesn't return anything for Musick. Did you ever consider including the matchbooks in the football card search results?

Thanks Again for reply.

I would love to include matchbooks in the Gallery, but I don't collect them, so I would need to ask someone else for the images. Most of the images in the Gallery are scans I took myself, but some friends have helped with the older and more obscure sets. I'll get to the matchbooks someday, I expect. Right now I'm chipping away at the Canadian sets.
