Default Advice on spotting a stamped signature on a vintage card

How do you spot a stamped signature on a vintage card?

Use a jewelers loop and if the signature under the loop appears to be broken up with numerous spaces in the ink then it is stamped.

Does it matter what quality of loupe that you use? Or size of magnification? I've noticed some are very cheap. Thanks.
