for pennant displays?
At the moment I'm just using a pennant top loader style holder, which looks pretty cheap and nasty. Outside of framing, are there nicer pennant holders out there?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Daniel

Just about the only other thing you can do besides the top loader is to have it framed which can look very nice. If you look through some of the threads on this side you'll see a particular nice Red Sox pennant that Greg T. had framed and it looks great.

That pennant, Dan, (and the 1915 one I have) were framed by the fellow I purchased them from.

Both pennants are actually in a plastic sleeve that is behind the matting.

I have another pennant that I framed a few years ago. This pennant is held to the matting through an archival type of thin stitching which you can't even see.

The only issue with framing is that once it's done, you can't access the pennant. Then again, it's no different than slabbing a baseball card (but I think a lot prettier)

Greg

In sleeves:

Go Sox!

Thanks Dan, Greg, and those are truly superb looking pieces Greg.....
Do either of you guys remember a very recent House auction (which I can't recall right now, and thus can't go back to check ), in the last 6 weeks, in which some pennants were up for sale including basketball examples. There was a 70's Philly 76ers signed by the team including Dr J., and more to the point an early (85' I think) Bulls pennant signed by the team including MJ. The Bulls piece was in a 'top loader' style holder, but much more stylish with black plastic edgings and altogether nicer looking.
I followed the auction with intention to bid on the Bulls item, then when the bidding went high I forgot to scan the pic. for reference.

Any chance you guys know what the heck I'm talking about?

Daniel

Sorry, I can't help you there. I don't pay too much attention to anything besides baseball.

Sorry I can't help you either, Daniel.

I'm pretty narrow-focused (narrow minded?)and don't recall seeing anything like that.

Good luck with your hunt.
Greg

Speaking of Great Looking Pennants (of course, I have no bias here ), check out this link and photo for a new Royal Rooters DVD:

I love the Oh You Red Sox banners on those caps! Look at those pennants! Hey Mike, could that be the Oh, You Red Sox pin on the lapel on the guy in the front?

Hopefully my wife picked up this DVD today because it's been two days without baseball (and hopefully there will still be plenty to continue watching).

Go Sox!

Greg

Edited to show the photo on the web page

Dan,

Here's the link to the main page, you enter from here. There are a couple youtube previews you can see.

Check out the Trailer section for some nice previews.

Joe - Sorry to hear you hate the Sox. I won't tell my wife for fear she might do something drastic

So far, so good in the 8th...

Anyway...

Finally got that Rooters DVD (Today was the first or second day it was in the stores). Pretty cool overall. What was very interesting is that those three pieces that you guys are probably pretty much tired of seeing me post by now (the 3rd Base photo, Rooters pin, and Tessie song card) all made it pretty prominently into the film. I guess they must have shot all of the stuff for the film a while ago and then everything went up for sale into the REA spring event.

I can't imagine how such a great collection could be sold after being highlighted so prominently. (stupid question, yes I can)

Back to the game.
