Default 1979 and 1980 Royals Photocards

From researching it seems that where a player exists in both of these sets - i.e. Brett, LaCock, Quirk, etc. - the cards are identical and indistinguishable from each other.

In which case, if you have one there is no way at all to tell which year it was issued.

I have a Quirk player collection I'm working on, and I have one of these. No idea which; impossible to tell. Part of me thinks well, I should get another one because they issued one each year. But if I got another, I would have no way of knowing if the two were issued in the same year or not.

Does this sound correct? What would others do - stick with the 1?

I think you're fine with one (especially if they are indistinguishable)

Seems like you have a Venn diagram thing happening here, where the blue and yellow represent the two different sets and the green is for the indistinguishable players...

Maybe it's like Schroedinger's Baseball card - if it's in an album page, it could be from both 1979 AND 1980 at the same time? Is that how it works? I can flip to it one day and say it's 1979, and the next can say it's from 1980, right?

If they are relatively cheap and readily available buy two and keep one as a 1979 and the other as a 1980.

I guess it's one of the downsides of having such a Quirky collection.
