Finally after 20+ years collecting, I made the biggest
trade yet and picked up a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle.
Thanks Judgebuck!

Congratulations!!! It took me 10 years to get my first 1952 Topps Mantle and it's a great feeling for sure. Great card!

Thanks, sounds silly but I took it to a local card shop to show it off. I just thought I'd share. So where do I go from here....

I was going to say, a 52 Topps Mantle pickup is probably deserving of its own thread!

If you find the answer to that question, please let me know. I went from dreaming of owning a 1952 Topps Mantle for over 10 years to currently owning my 6th one in the past 3 years. I imagine it's like the postwar card collector's equivalent to owning a T206 Honus Wagner. You can upgrade it, you can downgrade it, but you can't really top it. Kinda like being stuck in quicksand. You can go up and down, but you are still stuck in the same place.

Yes, congrat's on the Mantle!

Picked the Robinson PS up from a board member (still trying to figure out how to fit it in my J Robinson display case) and the Ripken RC was an upgrade.

Rob, thanks!

Phil, yes it was yours. I was upset when I missed it when you originally posted it. Steve saw my comment on N54 and emailed me to see if I was interested. I'm really happy he did!

It was tough for me to let the Jackie go, but when I picked up a raw one that I liked a little better, this one was expendable.
And I remembered that Dan made a comment on it when I first picked it up from Phil so who better to pass it off to??
Anyways, who needs two of anything??
Thanks again Dan!!!

Thanks guys. I have MLB HOF RC's displayed in alphabetical order in my family room. S - Z players are displayed in the case in the right corner of the Jackie Robinson display case.

Nice Jackie display. I notice what appears to be one of the square corner bond breads, or whatever they've been discussed as in earlier threat. I was just wondering what the consensus opinion was on they're origins and dates?

I can't even remember where I bought that card. I think I sent it to PSA last year and they rejected it. I may try and see if SGC will grade it.

Got these in from PSA today!

Total Pop on this one is 6:

This next one was originally in an SGC 80 holder... Cracked it out, and it came back a PSA 7, which is the highest graded.

Nope. We were lucky, many homes and businesses close by still don't have power. Schools are still closed. We had just a few trees down (at the golf course) and a tiny bit of water in the basement (my home). Thanks for asking.
