Those are the ones they use for grading wax packs. Why it was used, I have no clue.

Not that familiar with that card, is it crazy thick? Enough to require a pack holder?

The etopps cards were issued in encased form. Could it be the card is still encased. I have a Mike Moustakos (sic) Etopps card still in the original ETopps holder.

That is a slab that PSA had for a small period of time before going with the new generation. It was used to encapsulate the thick patch cards

Many of the 2001 era cards are super thick - much thicker than similar patch/auto/GU cards are today.

PSA has encapsulated a number of cards in these super thick cases.
