Default T 206 PSA 6 Common

Posted By: Edwin Miller

I would appreciate input on a reasonable price for a T 206 common graded at PSA 6 and, I am sure this is a stupid question, but I am a newbie, what is the SGC equivalent to a PSA 6? Thanks.

Dont know what a reasonable price is, I suggest just getting on ebay and looking at past sales - search "T206 psa 6" under completed listings and it should give you an idea. An SGC 80 is the equiv. of a PSA 6 - most newer sgc labels have the equivilent grade right on them. You can also see the entire conversion scale on sgc's website under "grading scale."

on who you're talking to.

Neutral observer.....PSA 6 = SGC 80
SGC fan......PSA 6 = SGC 70
PSA fan......PSA 6 = SGC 92

Not to mention the "who submitted it" variable.

For a person neutral on PSA or SGC.....

PSA 6 = ex/mt
SGC 80 = ex/mt

I'm not sure there is a such thing as a T206 common any longer. There are many who collect subsets of the "monster." Some factors to consider:
Player
Pose
Advertiser on reverse--color, factory, series, overprint, etc.
Registration--not all 6's are the same
name/team variation
portrait or landscape
sweaters
southern leaguers
barehanded, gloved, catcher's regalia
etc., etc., etc.

As far as T206 is concerned, there are many common players but few common cards.

As one who tries to collect T206 PSA 6 I would say that you'll see anywhere from $150 to $250, with the lower end seemingly a bargain that is few and far between these days. SGC equivalent are a better buy usually, probably because of competition for the PSA set registry and more liquidity in PSA graded 6 cards versus SGC 80s which are not very plentiful.

For what it's worth, I have had SGC review three PSA 6 T206 cards for possible crossover. Only 1 of them made it. The two PSA 6 T206 cards that did not make it across to an SGC holder had corner dings, but were otherwise very nice cards.
