He has no idea what its worth so this is exactly why I made the post to get value ideas. You have to be careful on something so rare

It looks like the pricing on the card does not match the "Quickconsignment" ebay ID of the seller chosen to offer this card to the public.

I always wonder who these friends are.

If the friend was trying to sell the card for $20,000 you would think since he is the one making the money he would be motivated enough to go on internet forums and ask hobby collectors about the value instead of a 'friend' with no interest in a card and only motivation is to help out a friend..

I guess its better than asking about a friends card that he/she inherited from an ex girlfriend/boyfriend..

Actually he is standing next to me, he has tried to get his own account on this site and nobody has approved his account in over a week. Its funny how he has already had several phone calls from serious buyers and the people posting are knocking the card down. Its clearly rare and wanted by many collectors.

I think everyone that likes cobbs will 'want' the card including me, but at the right price.

To the OP - you're going to get a lot of ball-busting with a thread like this. It's just the nature of the beast. I might recommend reaching out to one of the premier auction houses to get their thoughts on ways to maximize your return. This is one of those situations where I don't think selling on eBay or Net54 will yield the best results for you.

I wouldn't pay over $100.00 for it either but my guess is someone pays between $500.00 and $1,000.00 for it. I actually just bid you $99.99 for it on ebay. Hit the bid!!!!!!!!

I would think this is a reasonable estimate for this card. It is possible that it goes for more, but I can't see it coming anywhere close to even 10% of the asking price of its listing on ebay.

And why is SGC's black gasket so crooked? It certainly detracts from the card's overall presentation.

It's rare, not as rare as your friend states as PSA did not keep POPs on 460's till recently which is why he saw only 1. There are a small handful more in my belief. Ted Z probably can tell you for sure.

As to value, back collectors may pay up as they rarely surface...but definitely nowhere near 20k.

I would say consign it to an auction house and hope to get into 4 figures from someone frustrated at a hole in their collection and want a filler.

This actually is a card that I do need for my set but it's even hard for me to put a price on it. Something like this is more of a good card trade situation. Yes, it would check off one more needed card but in my mind i'd still be looking for another as if I didn't even own it. Not sure if your buddy is looking to trade.

At least you dont have to worry about the fact it would of gone to a card doctor and was in a prior lesser holder., they dont sell -1s etc.

Jeff, if you're going to come on here and ask people for help, you should really return emails when you say you are going to.

Obviously an issue with registration.
They should take less than 8 business hours, generally. There is a 99% chance we/I didn't get his registration information back from an email he received upon registration. My email is at the top of every page if anyone ever needs anything. I respond quickly.
It's a nice card, best way to determine value is in a good, open auction format. Otherwise take the most offered . Happy collecting....

I think Ted just exemplified the problem with using pop reports like my post said.

We have two 1911 Sov Authentic cards on this thread and the report shows only 1.

POPs are nothing.

Hi Justin

My Cobb was graded some years ago. It looks like his Cobb was graded very recently.

It's my experience with SGC, that it usually takes up to a couple weeks for a card that they have graded to show up on their POP report listing.

Incidentally, I know of only 4 cards of Cobb with a SOVEREIGN 460 back. And, I've been tracking them for approx. 10 years. This one is # 5.

Thanks for the clarity Ted, I definitely trust your knowledge on t206 as it absolutely crushes mine.

I will admit that I am openly not the worlds biggest fan of TPGs but understand it's necessary evil. I just trust these pop reports as much as a car salesman in a Men's Warehouse suit.

Default T206 Cobb Red Sov 460- POP 8

I am aware now of eight different copies...
btw, I have owned (once upon a time) each of the first three in Patrick R's gallery!
purchased the (then ungraded) psa 3 c. 1981 & sold it in Goodwin auction after buying the sgc 50 in a mastro auction.
the sgc 10 was purchased on ebay (as an investment), and subsequently sold via ebay to a board member who then traded it to Jamie blunder, with whom, I believe the card [see: "meet the cobbs"] still resides.
will be watching, with great interest the outcome of this most recent addition.

Mark, is the eighth one that you know about graded? PSA has a 5 in their
pop reports but I don't know if it's a 2nd example or a re-holder of the one
I posted.

Default Pat...

am fairly certain that the previous seven were all graded, but, some before the 460 designation was added by psa.
that psa 5 example is indeed a re-holder as the cert verification confirms the 460 designation & a hologram.
