Default 1948-9 Leaf reprints

Hey guys, just bought a 48-9 leaf kiner rc, and it looks different than the other 2 I have. The background color is more red-violet, than the red-orange psa graded ones, plus the lines around the players body don't line up the same as the psa cards. I know the back looks the same, is in black ink, and doesn't say reprint, as well as knowing there is a decent amount of varience in these cards. Anyone have any input? Thanks

A scan would help, but there are two different groups of the common numbers. One with more natural colors and the other with more pinkish ones.
The different backgrounds seem to also match up by color.

I haven't looked enough to get a feel for either being tougher, but my impression is that they're about the same.

Thanks Steve B. It looks just like the Brissie on the right. That scan makes me feel much better. As I said, everything else looks ok, just the color and slight offset of the pic worried me compared to my others. Thanks!

Default 1949 LEAF cards' color variations

Most of the 1949 LEAF cards with normal RED backgrounds will also be found with "redish-violet" color backgrounds.
Here are some of the color variations in my set.

Default Musial Leaf

Hi, new member here. I just purchased a 48 Leaf Musial and I have some concerns about its authenticity. The main reason I am concerned is the card stock. I have never handled a 48 Leaf before to compare it to, but the stock seems to be much more rigid than vintage Topps and Bowman. I realize it is hard to tell from a scan but any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm no expert on these cards but have had a few in the past and it looks like a good (and very nice) example of Musial. The card stock is a bit more rigid than other sets from later on of both Topps and Bowman. From the looks of the card as well as my personal ,yet limited, experience I think your cad is ligit. Congrats!

Default Leaf Musial

Well I went to a card show in St. Louis today and found out the card is a fake. Showed it to a long time friend / dealer and he didn't hesitate. Showed to another dealer I didn't really know and he didn't hesitate either. I bought it from a guy at www.sportscardforum.com. Asked for a refund so we'll see what happens. They both said at least it's a good fake! Disappointing but not shocking. Drew, thanks for your input.

So sorry that came out that way. I hate to seepeople getting ripped off. It is so hard when you are new with set to tell at times. Hope you get a full refund and are able to find a legit one for a good price. If you do get the refund and have the money to stat looking might I suggest the BST section. Alot of great people here with a seriously good selection of almost all cards in almost all conditions and better prices for the most part than on ebay.

Again, so sorry.

Drew
