I finished my PSA Hal Chase subset for T-206. Got back from PSA my Hal Chase with Trophy to complete the 5 cards.
Always had a soft spot for odd ball characters in baseball and found Chase intriguing.
I also read a recent Chase Biography; "The Black Prince of Baseball" by Dewey & Acocella. It's lengthy and bogs down a little, but this scholarly work is well researched and defintely worth the read for pre-war guys.

Would love to see any other Hal Chase cards posted here. Thanks.
Ray

I got this one from John Billingsly about 4 years ago as I was walking out of the door the last day of the National....it was by coincidence that I even saw it out of the corner of my eye.......

Hal was born in the town I live in and his grandson Hal Chase the third is the present fire chief!( Los Gatos Callifornia). I have collected a ton of Chase cards and hope to be able to post some later. That "Hal with Stanley cup" is very popular and every vintage card collector should have at least one!

Leon,

That used to be my Chase; originally it came from Lew Lipset. I traded it to John for an OJ HOFer (I cant even remember which one) - I wish I could undo that deal!

e90-1 ....

I like the little bit of missing corner.
Kinda' portrays to the thought that Chase didn't always play to his "fullist" ability.

"...has no interest in his baby daughter and shows no emotion when she dies of crib death." In Hal's defense, death from disease was common and a high infant mortality rate was the norm for even the upper middle class. I'd bet and hope he just maintained a stiff upper lip for the image. Just completed Joe DiMaggio (What a grump) by Cramer. This Chase book sounds very good and it's now on my list.

Just got this one recently:

Don't have this one anymore, but I sometimes wish I did (though if I had never sold it, along with a bunch of other cards, I would probably not have my Cobb Green and my O'Hara St. Louis):
