Default Can someone help me date this pennant?

Does anyone know the exact or even approximate date of this pennant and what do they sell for in nice condition, assuming I can find one. I must have one of these! I pulled and cropped this photo from a thread here on Net54 but I don't remember exactly who had this displayed.

Egner's Vintage Pennant Price Guide has it listed as 1910's / Extremely Rare*** / $2500-$3000

With "Extremely Rare***" meaning "These would be very tough to find...possibly one of a kind."

Thanks Lance. Sounds about right as it seems like everything I think is super cool costs at least four figures anymore.

That was quite a surprise to see it posted here unexpectedly. It's hanging on my wall, and is the only one known to exist. I doubt that another example will turn up (anytime soon, anyway).

The graphics are embroidered, as opposed to screened on, and (remarkably) it remains in NRMT condition. Its a huge oversized pennant, typical of those manufactured in the early teens.

Sorry I cannot part with it just yet, but if you want to PM or email me with your contact info, I will retain that for future reference. If the financial outlook changes, you just never know...

Ps. Mike and I pretty much just guessed at the valuation for the Book (based largely upon sales of other oversized pennants of the era). Since there are no other known examples, who knows what it's really worth?

You have a good eye Paul. That has always been one of my favorite pennants from Mark's amazing collection. Mark...I don't need to send you a PM for your oversized Cubs right?

Default Help with another pennant

Hi all,

I came across your thread while searching for information on a pennant I received as a gift. It is not baseball related (sorry) but I was hoping you could help. It is a Notre Dame pennant. I have attached 2 pictures. It has no sewing on it. It is a heavy felt. I am hoping to learn the age and value of this gift. I would like to get a gift of similar value to repay the gesture but have no idea what it is worth. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Tom

Hard to tell the exact age as there is not much to go with, my guess would be early 1960's based on the style and metal grommets. Value would be less than $50 in my opinion
