Default Brooklyn Dodgers Pinback

I believe this pinback in Hakes latest auction is college basketball related and has nothing to do with the Brooklyn Dodgers.

It is basketball and you are right as the seller of this pin sometimes doesnt know what he is talking about, there are also a couple of more pins in that auction that have nothing to do with baseball, and I have told him before but it falls on deaf ears! Anything to make back a buck from his own mistakes!

Default pins

Thankyou for the correction on this pin wouldnt want someone getting fooled into thinking it was baseball. There are a few others but here is one more to fix. In your All Star lot the 1942 New Orleans All Star Pin has nothing to do with baseball either. There has never been an all star baseball game played in New Orleans. That pin Was for the East West Shrine (FOOTBALL) game that was moved from California to New Orleans due to the great concern that Japans air planes could possibly reach the venue and killl many people. By moving it to New Orleans the thought was that it was to far for the planes to travel into the United States. There are a few others but I will let your research Dept. try and figure them out.. But thanks for the correction.

City on the first pin, I believe, refers to CCNY, City College of New York. The Violets refers to NYU, New York University. Both were basketball powers in the 40s and 50s. Not sure what team Brooklyn refers to.

I think you are spot on Mark. Brooklyn is probably Brooklyn College. CCNY, NYU, Brooklyn, St. John's and others all played in the same metropolitan conference. 1949 -50 CCNY were a dream team winning NCAA and NIT.
