View Poll Results: Am I justified in counting this card for all three?
Yes, it's a legitimate card featuring and identifying all three. 48 45.71%
Only Fred Clarke identified on the front of the card should count. 23 21.90%
It can be considered both a Clarke and Collins card, but not Lajoie. 19 18.10%
This doesn't involve T206 or 52T Mantle so I don't care. 15 14.29%

Default Poll: Am I crazy to count it?

I am a low budget collector but I am doing my best on my means to acquire a card of every player and manager (Not chasing Pioneers, Executives or Negro League players inducted into the HOF that did not play for a MLB team at this point.) where the card is issued during their playing/managing career. Acquiring pre-war HOFers is challenging on my budget but I did just recently acquire this Triple Folder from the most recent Sterling Auction.

Fred Clarke is one of the two featured players on the card but I had previously acquired a T205 card of him. My motivation for bidding was in the center panel which depicts Eddie Collins and Nap Lajoie. For now I am counting this as card as being able to cross both Collins and Lajoie off my list. I have already justified this to myself and it's my collection I can do what I want but curious what other collectors think. Am I stretching this to far in calling this a card of Clarke, Collins, and Lajoie. FWIW, PSA set registry seems to be on board with this being a Clarke and Collins card as it is listed in both players Master Sets but not a Lajoie card.

Dustin,

Does it really matter what the poll results are?

What really matters is, if in your mind it counts as three. It's your collection, so you set whatever criteria you like.

BTW - You and I have the same criteria for our HOF collections.

Happy hunting.

No the results don't really matter for me but I did want to hear opinions of other collectors to see if my thinking was mainstream or just how far outside of the norm I fell.

And it was a conversation I hadn't seen before on here so I figured why not.

I personally would not count a T202 center panel particularly where there is almost no facial detail.

This is kind of a weird issue. I would consider it a Collins card because he is mentioned on the panel title on back. I could easily see there most would only consider the two players on the side panels, but why is there an unrelated middle panel anyway? I would consider Lajoie as a "cameo" appearance only.

Seems counter intuitive to me to call that an Eddie Collins card.
Same goes for the one with Joe Jax on the center panel.
To each their own though.

I can see calling it a Collins card because the picture is pretty clear. I think if I were you I would want a card of just Collins since he is such a legend. He is not just any HOFer, and you can find a solid lower grade T206 and maybe e95 for less than $100.

I'd say count it as all three especially for now. Are there better cards to represent Collins and Lajoie? Of course there are.
Is it cool in some ways to have one card with all three? And two of them in an action photo? To me yes.

Our stamp club has an annual "scavenger hunt" where you try to find items that fit a description from a list of maybe 25 different items. The prize is something like a free year of membership or some random collectible. Since I have a lot of random stuff it's usually pretty easy.
So I try to complete the list in as few items as I can.

It might be interesting to see what would make a major league only HOF set using the fewest cards possible. T201/T202s would cover a few of the prewar players, and the leader cards or multi player cards would make the postwar ones interesting as well. (Not to mention making it a fairly inexpensive "set" )

For my HOF collection, I have tried to obtain a different card for each HOFer, even though I have several cards with multiple HOFers on them. This way, I have the same number of cards as inductees. I would consider your card good for any of the three players (although, calling it my "Clarke" card would probably be my first option). Nice card, and happy collecting!

I have picked up a few of these as I am also a low budget collector.

Imo, although they are not individual cards or RC's, they are still cards that depict the players and are recognized cards.

Another low budget alternative for Collins is his 1933 Goudey (ditto Speaker)--but not so true for Lajoie!

I collect HOF'er's and stars, and when I had my 1913 Fatima Cleveland Indians team card, I counted as both a Lajoie and Jackson card. As I'm personally not infatuated with either, I probably will eventually replace it and treat it exactly the same!

Enjoy your collecting,

Larry
