Thanks for the kind words but it wasn't supposed to be open and I closed it back to be unviewable. We haven't correctly organized the lots or proofread the descriptions. It was my fault. We will be open for bids on Monday morning.....We are really excited about our first auction and the many folks who have entrusted us with their consignments. We have about 20 more lots to add also...again, my apology for the mistake....regards

By the way, do you have something against BL Auctions? There is no link in the Auction House section in Vintage Links here.

I am taking a stand against Brockelman and Luckey Auctions so have not added their link. With enough pressure I might be forced to put one up there. I am going to serve myself papers first so I can feel at home......then I will do it....

There are many misspellings and things aren't categorized and you CAN'T bid right now but for the next 30 minutes I will open a preview up just for board members.

Disclaimer- anything you see right now might or might not change or even be there for the auction....I just want to give Net54 members a courtesy short sneak preview.......so go look kind of quickly....and you will see a preview....AND NO BIDDING TILL MONDAY......

Several of the higher end items will be Net90 lots too.....so you can pay 30% after the auction is over and then have up to 3 mos to pay the rest. It's up to the consignors to offer it but it might help folks a little bit......Not that anyone ever has to allocate money or anything.... (as I am putting my tongue through my cheek)

edited to add that there will be 20-30 more lots added also......(most likely)

Leon-

Any idea if prices realized from this auction will be incorporated unto VCP or the likes? Just curious...I guess I should direct this at Bobby.

We are working on that as we speak. Not sure if it will get done due to some costs but there is a chance it will.....Can't say for sure right now. I am sure this will be a learning experience for Scott and I....so far so good though. And it's not like we both haven't participated in hundreds of auctions....so we have an idea of what we want ......I can safely say that nothing is perfect though.

I have gone ahead and closed it back up as Scott and I have a fair amount of more work to do this weekend. As I said there will most likely be 20-30 more lots added. Many lots will be collector type ones so that if you feel like you can never win anything in an auction you very well might be able to in ours......I expect some lots to go as low as $100 or maybe less.....We are armpit collectors and proud of it .....

They pulled the Rose PC's as a whale made an offer the consignor could not refuse.

The good news is the whale is going to build a Web site, so you can view the cards there any time you want.

Were the Rose postcards offered individually or in one lot? I'd really only be interested if I could buy them all at once and have a good start at a complete set. That's also why I stay away from the Just So's, the Yum Yum's and the G&B's.

Paul- there never were any Rose PC's and we didn't sell any off before the auction.....We were made a couple of offers for other cards "pre-auction" but have stayed the course.......whatever consignments we got plus the few other things will be in there.....We have about 185-190 lots and there will be some probably below $100 and (hopefully) others into 5 figures.....Monday morning is D day.....probably around 8-10am....

Very nice inaugural auction guys, with a lot of variety.

I really like the tintype- I also date it late 1860's, and it is a fine image and composition.

I apologize to all that had to go hunt for the auction link. I swore I had it attached to the email, reread the email several times before I hit SEND and still goofed it up. But at least the board members will find it first from the several links on here. At least it may keep the competition at bay for a day or two.

PLEASE SEE LINK ABOVE

Please give me a call and I can instruct you on how to win an auction lot .......It's really fairly simple.

1. Take out wallet.
2. At the end disburse more money than anyone else for that lot.
3. Don't tell wife.

You don't have to go in that order. Truthfully, in putting this auction together we really tried hard to make it where someone that can't normally win in a major auction, due to financial pressures, will have a fighting chance in this one. Also, if anyone notices some kind of factual information that is wrong we always appreciate a heads up email. I have already corrected a few lots that way. Insignificant typos aren't too big of a deal....but we will change them when we see them. There has been a little bit of a learning curve but so far so good...We appreciate the kind words, the bids, consignments and trust...We hope to do a good job with this one and the ones in the future....best regards

Hi Leon,

I registered last Wednesday, but as of yet have not been enabled to bid. I would love to bid. Dare I say, yearn to bid. Bidding would complete me.

I do hope this doesn't mean you've learned of my participation in the 1872 Credit Mobilier scandal. I was young. Foolish.

Scott and Leon,

Could I please get you to close the auction now, as I currently have the high bid on several lots.

But seriously, very nice auction. I certainly appreciate the opportunity to potentially win a card or two without having to mortgage my house.

Best Regards,
Craig

Cool auction, guys. Nice mix of rarities, obscurities and armpitteries. LOVE that 12.5% b.p.! It's so 20th century.

P.S. I appreciate that you let me register even though I used Roy Huff as a hobby reference.

Thanks much. So far it's going very well and pretty much as expected. I will probably post one thread tomorrow as it's the last day. Scott and I have tried not to abuse the priviledge of having Net54 at our diposal. NO one wants something crammed down their throat. One thing I do want to mention is that in this auction s/w there is no way to put the correct shipping/insurance charges on invoices immediately. They have to be done manually. So I asked our s/w company to put $2000 shipping as the default....so everyone would know it's not right and will be corrected. We expect to have low shipping/insurance charges and they will be calculated after the auction is over. Thanks again to everyone who has registered and bid so far. Some lots are really getting some spirited bidding lately.....Good luck to all....
