Default A bit of belated sad news. RIP Anthony Stephenson, aka Anthony S. on our board

I just learned of some sad news. Anthony Stephenson, aka Anthony S. on the board has passed away (on Sept 30th). Anthony posted quite a bit on the board, and had a lot of interaction, and was always a well liked guy. All of my dealings and communications with him were very friendly and cordial. RIP Anthony, we'll miss your wit and sense of humor, among other things. Condolences to his family and other friends.

The older I get, the more good people I see leave. I can't recall if I had any interaction with Anthony but, by everyone else's notes, I'm sure I would've enjoyed it.

This should be a reminder for all of us to thank our friends while we can and hug and kiss our loved ones every day. Life is fragile and is not to be wasted.

Thank you, my friends for allowing me to join this forum where we can discuss all things, but mostly all things Baseball.

You folks have enriched my life in the several months since I joined and I sincerely appreciate it.

So, here's a toast to Anthony - Long may you swing away, young man!

This is stunning and very sad news.

Anthony had great taste in cards and was very easy to transact with, but more importantly he was funny, intelligent, and his posts and emails were always fun to read. You could just tell that he truly enjoyed the hobby. He'll really be missed.

Rest in Peace Anthony.

I had the pleasure of trading some 1910 obaks with Anthony in July of 2009.

My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Was just looking at some old back and forth emails with Anthony. In early 2008, I posted on the board that I needed one more T206 (Hooker) for my set. Anthony emailed and said he was happy to send it to me free of charge. That was the first of many emails I received from Anthony. He was a very generous guy.

Awful and sudden news. I worked with Tony many times over the years. Always a friendly guy and one I looked forward to hearing from. He and I had been working on the 09 Obaks set alongside each other the past couple years as well. My prayers and condolences to his family.

Default Tragic

Oh man, this is terrible news.
It's funny how you can never meet a guy in person but still have a fine opinion of a guy, the way he handles himself and how decent he is.
Anthony is one of those.

I have been reading this board several times a day for a few years. It's tough to hear about a passing of our own. Especially good guys like Anthony.
Rest in peace, Brother!

I didn't know him personally nor do I recall any transactions. So I looked up some posts and instantly recognized his Avatar.

Prayers are said for his family.

Since his sense of humor is the thing people remember about him I found it appropriate that his last post was humorous:

Anthony was a great guy who helped me build my 1909 Obak set. He was very fair on cards and was often quite entertaining. I will miss my interactions with him for sure! RIP man and thank you for being a positive influence on a younger (at the time) collector.

I looked at some of his posts this morning and loved seeing he called himself D.B. Cooper

If you are of a certain age, that name truly resonates and if you not of that age, do so internet research

And if Anthony did know of Mr. Cooper, I hope he arranged for that information to be released after his passing.

And 47 is way way too young

Do we know his cause of death? Was he ill or was this a sudden shock (or possibly a bit of both)? I know of a few members that have had medical issues and didn't know if that was his story also.

Agreed it is sad and that is enough of a response to state that if he was suffering of an illness he hadn't let the board know.

Even when I wasn't that interested in a topic but I spotted his dog icon I would read his post, as it was typically delightful, off-kilter and funny. Thanks for all the laughter Anthony...you made this board a better place.

Default Prayers for Anthony & his family

I just did a quick search of my inbox and I had done some dozen or so deals with Anthony over the last 10 years. He was a super nice guy. PCL collector, Cal football fan, and I bought several cards from him over the years as well as sold a few to him. Way too young.

RIP Anthony - God Bless
