Default Big Sales Not In The Cards

Here's a link to an article discussing the current state of the hobby. This article must have been picked up by various newspapers because it appeared in our paper in California on Sunday with the title I used for this thread. Here's the link:

Very interesting article. Misleading title, though. The content of the piece is nowhere near as dire as it sounds.

If you still have those bricks of Eric Davis, etc.; well, nothing appears to have changed--they're worthless, taking up space, and gathering dust.

Behind the proprietor in the photo, boxes and boxes and boxes of cards that, I hope, will be sold in a year. I shan't hold my breath on that score.

In front, the desirable game the hunters track down. One store owner said that kind of rare cat is usually gone the same day. Some things don't change.

Nothing we didn't already know or suspect, but I liked the article.

I think 50 years from now there will be very few baseball card collectors because a couple of generations will have grown that were into sending text messages instead.
