Default Ebay seller loses card , cancels order.

Years of bidding and winning auctions on Ebay and I've never had an order cancelled until tonight, reason: card is damaged or lost.
Yea it was a winning bid in a 1986 PSA 8 Fred McGriff for $6.01, not a huge deal I guess but still irrating becaue if id won at over market prices i wouldve paid. No words from the seller directly to me, just the cancelation notice email from EBay.

I don't know what the seller's story is but I've had to do this in the past. However, it wasn't an auction. I'd had a card listed as a Buy It Now forever and totally forgot I even had it up on offer. I sold it and didn't remember the listing. Then I got a notification one day that someone had bought it.

^^+1^^ Sometime shit happens. I have had to do it as well. Had an item listed on here and eBay. It sold on here and then someone hit the BIN on eBay before I canceled it.

As far as leaving a reason why. I would never do that because it just opens up unwanted/unneeded communication with the buyer. It doesn't matter why the transaction is over. Plus no matter the reason the buyer isn't going to believe it.

Then on the other side there are a ton of POS that just cancel if they don't get their price. It is like a secret reserve.

Just happened to me the other day. I messaged the seller and they replied with a lie (said it was damaged). When I said I'd still buy it and show me the damage, they never responded.

By the way, you can leave negative feedback on a cancelled transaction and i did just that. It gave me a great deal of satisfaction for having to deal with a dishonest seller. i can only hope it hurts their selling performance in some way, but then again they'll just cancel most transactions.

I too, have had to do it. Had a card at a BIN listed forever. Turned it into an auction....after the auction ended, I simply COULD NOT find the card.

The lack of a personal message owning their mistake is where I have an issue with this. I get stuff happens, just send a non-ebay generated message.

Yea,maybe the dog ate it. But ok, then just tell me you lost it. It's the principle.
