Default Elmer Jacobs

Posted By: Terry Hughes

Being new to this forum I am unsure how it works, but I am looking for memorabilia for a PCL and MLB pitcher by the name of W. Elmer Jacobs. He was my Great grandfather and was recently inducted into the PCL Hall of Fame. I have found a few items through the PCL Hall of Fame Committee and also on Ebay. I have not found anything from his play in the majors. Is there a research tool that can tell me what baseball cards might have been produced of him? ANY help will be greatly appreciated!

to see what responses others can provide. I see where there is a Jacobs listed in the Zeenut series over several years, and the 1933 Zeenut is listed as W.E. Jacobs. As for the others, there is a "Jacobs" listed in each of the sets from 1921-1925, and 1928-1933, along with a "R Jacobs" for 1927.

You may want to look at a SCD big book-usually available at major book stores although sometimes shrink-wrapped and unavailable for perusal. In the back is a chronological index of sets, which you could use to pin down what might be out there for the years your great-grandfather played, and you could look up those sets to see if he is included. It is my understanding, though, that that there was a printing snafu in the chron index of the latest edition, so navigation could be tricky.
