Default Exhibit PC Back Proof and Phantom

Here are images of the Sammy Bohne proof and the phantom of the Bill Terry card. Boy do I wish that Terry had been issued; it is really nice.

Those are nice, Adam.

This is the original photo for the 1950s Exhibit Supply Company boxing card of Ezzard Charles. Notice that the bottom portion of the photo, including his trunks, is hand painted.

There are no date markings on the proofs. Bohne was actually issued in the first printing of the set and the legend on the card has a position listed so it is roughly a 1925-26 creation. Terry was never issued. Bill Terry's breakout year statistically was 1925, so the proof could have been created any time during the run, but because the style of the Terry is the same as the later printings of the set (no position listed), I would attribute a later date to it, either for set 82 or set 83, probably the former.

the legends on the cards are actually handwritten in ink. No wonder I went crazy trying to find a matching font when I was trying to create some similar type cards on computer.
