FS-Leo Durocher Pride of the Yankees Wire photo
Very interesting wirre photo entitiled: Leo "The Lip" Durocher turns film actor
The photo is of Durocher being filmed by samuel goldwyn mayer's crew for the motion picture based on the life of loug gehrig. Its noted that it was requested that he wear a yankees uniform for his film rehearsal, but his boss larry mcphail forebade him to wear yanks pinstripes... the dispute was later settled and durocher was allowed to wear his dodgers gear... Perhaps thats why he didn't get a role in the film!!! Dated 11/5/1941 just a month after the Yankees defeated the Dodgers in the world series... Cool piece $15 pp gift shipped
