Well the scans are a bit small, and the seller's feedback is less than many, but the list of person's bidding on his cards are impossible to ignore.

Is the consensus that the seller's offerings are authentic?

Still not sure whether these are real or not. I finally got a response from the seller about my inquiry on the Gus Weyhing, but the response wasn't overly revealing. I had asked about dirt and other condition questions and what I got back was:

"2 creases one around his elbow one at the bottom the card does look nice up to u"

While the seller hasn't listed all HOFers, he hasn't listed all rank commons either. All of those guys are semi-stars who are on a lot of collectors want lists. It does seem odd that the pictures are so small (he provided larger pictures of other items he sold previously) and the selection so good.

i asked for a larger scan and the seller said that with his scanner it was not possible. i would like to see larger scans especially since one of the cards looks trimmed

I asked him about the Kilroy and informed me he's had it for a long time and doesn't "think" it is trimmed. I don't think I'll take the risk....

I sent 2 emails asking about back scans and got one response that said only "has a small letter on back". He isnt much for answering emails.I wouldve liked to have seen better scans but anyone else ive talked to hasnt got an answer either,or if they have theyve been like the ones posted here.No one seems to know the seller either which is odd for the quality of players he has,but from the scans they look real.Its just a matter of whether hes just computer illiterate or if he doesnt really have the cards so he cant send better(or backs) scans

This is great - I've sent a few emails to the seller with specific questions regarding creases, trimming, skinning and back damage and I've gotten nothing in the way of a return email. I want to bid on a few of the cards but I'd also hate to pay premium prices for cards with creases or other defects that aren't known until they arrive in the mail.

All but really poor pictures on Old Judges scan very well, at 73, at 96, and at 150.

I'm not sure what to think, but I'm sure of what I'm gonna do, steer clear.

I've emailed the seller 2 or 3 times earlier in the week asking for scans of the backs, creasing, return policies, history of the cards, etc etc. All I got were vague answers and excuses as to why they couldn't do this or that.

I've heard enough to deter me. To me, they look OK, but the seller doesn't.

And everyone knows that pink ones are almost never trimmed.

Not very heartening. I guess I will have a few beers first, that usually bolsters my foolhardiness. Just think --> stay away from pink.

Edited to add:

I just looked at the Kilroy. It is difficult to make a call from the scan offered, but it may not be trimmed. Then again, it may not be real, but I think it is.

He couldve made alot more money if he answered my email or sent a back scan as i offered him more than double what he got for the Corcoran just minutes after it was listed.Even offered to do it thru ebay if he wanted to add it as a buy it now price

Well Judge, the truth is that I like the pink OJs, and those with more subtle tones.

And I agree that the seller did well, in spite of his non-informative responses. I was surprised that the Corcoran, particularly in the condition it appeared to be in, drew essentially as much as the Kilroy. I was in there on both of 'em, but when the dust settled, I was way off the pace.

I am in the market for a Flint. If you ever consider parting with it, please include me as a potential purchaser.

John: Do I understand you correctly? You offered $800. or so for a vg Corcoran? I guess I better do some more reading on him.

You better get a very detailed description of the cards because the paper break in the back was not disclosed on a card I won from the seller in his last round of auctions. This round of OJs looks very enticing.

After the last round, I spoke to Bill about his cards (he lives a mere 30 minutes from me). I guess he tried to complete a HOF collection several years back. Well he didn't complete it butdid manage better than half of the HOFers found in the OJ set. I recall he was missing Hanlon (I remember which Detroits he didn't have), McPhee, Anson, and a lot of the other higher priced players. For the most part, his cards are mid grade, many with back damage. He will likely list more over the coming weeks.

Consensus last time was that these cards are real, just be sure to get a good description.

I bought 3 OJs from a seller a few months ago who was selling quilts, shadowboxes and jam jars and had very little feedback. People avoided her like she had the plague. 2 of the OJs graded 60 and 40 from SGC, I haven't sent the other in yet but it looks like a nice 40, 50 on a good day (I never seem to have these with SGC-just kiddin')

I think Pud will go the highest as well. I was an underbidder on one Lipset sold this summer.

I have a hard time bidding on auctions where the trading cards look like the photos were taken with a digital camera on a Blimp. There really is no reason to give such lackluster scans where the hobby revolves around information and grading conditions. Can you imagine the final bidding prices if people didn't have skepticism? What if the cards were graded?

I've requested detailed descriptions of the N172 cards for auction and I haven't received them. I like the cards but I was a little disappointed with the N172 I picked up from him in his last series of N172 auctions. The fact that the paper backing was broken was not disclosed. The description he provide was a light crease (it was heavy).

He could get higher bids if he took a little time to answer questions and/or have them encapsulated.

The Hamilton is what I thought it would be. The two tape stains aren't stains, they are actual pieces of tape. I wasn't to concerned about the back so it was no big deal. The image quality is not bad at all.

I'm waiting for round three....

If you're going to bid I would ask specific questions about any defects you may notice in the scans. The stuff is the real deal but unless you ask specific questions you may get something you weren't expecting. I won a card in what I called round 1 and round 2 of this persons OJ offerings on ebay. The first card was a little disappointing. The second card wasn't so bad. I'm not sure how many more this seller has but I would guess he's probably got a few more. Pretty much most of the cards he's offered have been HOFers or stars from that period.

Rusie - $1426 (light image, tough HOFer)
Radburn - $965 (light image sought after HOFer)
Wright - $4050 (light image as usual, HOFer - NL card)
Duffy - $510 (light image HOFer)
O'Neil - $202 (typical light image for that pose, star player)
Ewing - $1280 (beautiful image, HOFer)
Delahanty - $6833 (incredibly beautiful image, HOFer)

Total was about $15K -

The hit counter on the Delahanty was rolling in the last minute...

I bid $3400 on the Wright and was blown away in the last 10 seconds. The reason it went so high is because it is an 1890 version witht eh (NL) variation which is extremely rare. If the scrapbook paper could be soaked away with little or no damage and this card graded a 3 or so, it probably sells for $8,000+ in my opinion.

Soaking is not really what you would do. One drop of water on each of the spots would probably get that off. It might not, but I would not risk completely submerging the card or press it or anything like that. The card would also be easily identified due to its rarity so it is not like you could try and pass this off as not cleaned up, but it would help the visual appearance considerably.
